How would it do just to drop a solid rocket?

EDIT: I'd like to repeat our request for a mod to move this thread to the development forum.

Using a solid rocket was my intitial idea. It can be done, as long as you are willing to live with the high landing weight. A fully solid 3-man-to-LEO rocket is going to have to be pretty big, too. Bigger, probably, when you engineer it to limit the high G-loads as the stages aproach burnout.

Well, two man.

And the capsule its lifting doesn't have to have a heat shield. We're estimating about 2500 kg.

I'm concerned with solids because:
-They may cause too much vibration
-They might cause high g-loads as they approach burnout; g-loads that the crew might not find tolerable.
