Hi Guys.
I've just discovered that my favourite application has a new version out! Orbiter 2010. Yay! Installed it, love it.
One slight problem though. Dont know if anyone else is having this but when I am viewing the Map MFD, my framerate drops really low. The Framerate module actually reports normal framerates but I can see that things are stuttering and running sluggish. If i click out of Map MFD to the menu or to any other MFD things become beautifully smooth again.
I've got quite a high spec PC so I highly doubt its an out of date graphics card issue etc..
It only happens for this one MFD. I saw someone else had a similar problem with the map on AerobrakeMFD but that works fine for me. Just the default Map MFD. If i revert it back to the legacy 2006 Map MFD, it runs fine, but I want the juicy new features of the new one
This happens with a fresh install.
Steps to reproduce the problem:
Install Orbiter 2010 fresh
Launch the orbiter.exe
It does its checks
When finished, click Launch Orbiter
In the Orbiter Launchpad, Open the Parameters screen
In the Parameters screen, change MFD refresh to 0.10
Launch Orbiter
View the Map MFD
Compare smoothness between viewing Map MFD and not viewing Map MFD
Note that I change the MFD refresh to 0.10. This makes the problem more obvious. If i leave it at 1 second, Orbiter appears to run smoothly for the most part, except that every 1 second, there is a slight pause. I believe this is the Map MFD doing something processor intensive which is causing the app to pause. By setting the MFD refresh to 0.10 (my normal value so that TransX is responsive), this mini pause happens more regularly and is therefore more obvious.
Any suggestions anyone?
Your help is greatly appreciated
Thanks
-Mike-
