Here's a fun scenario that I haven't flown yet. Leave Earth 2 hours from the time of this posting, but you should launch at scenario start.
You sling Venus going to Mars. You'll need to do an inverted flight aerobrake to land at Mars. There is a 3 week planned stay on Mars surface before heading back and the total time from departing Earth to returning to Earth is less than 18 months.
Please excuse the departure location of Southern California. I planned it using my home base and since the launch window is just 2 hours away, there was no time to airlift the DG to the Cape. Since you probably don't have a base here, just accelerate east across the desert for launch.

Had so much fun making then flying the scenario above I decided to look for future similar windows. Found one in 2017 but it barely worked and took more than 18 months for the trip. But then in 2023 there was another one. The following are a pair of scenarios... they start the same with same launch ands sling of Venus, but the first one is a landing for a month on Mars with eject plan all set up for the return to Earth. The second in the pair is with an abort of the landing and uses gravity sling from Mars to return to Earth a couple of months sooner than the landing scenario. One could imagine coming in toward Mars and then deciding which way to finish the flight... a landing with a month's stay or an abort and flyby a few hundred Km above Mars surface.

Going out on a limb here because I have no clue about real life needs in rocket science including the strategies of going to Mars. But it struck me that the above two scenarios of a flight that could choose to land or sling home, could be followed (chased) by a second robotic cargo ship that is designed to only sling and allow supplies to the crew in event they chose to land. The chase ship would also have the heat shield for Earth re-entry.
I found a scenario that start 4 days after the first ship but because of the eject it arrives for its sling 14 days after the landing. The idea is for the landing craft to launch and eject as the supply ship passes Mars and dock with it in the hours after its eject from Mars. This way the landing craft doesn't have to pull many months of supplies, and Earth re-entry hardware up with it from the surface and accelerated up to eject speeds.
Remember, these scenarios are for navigation purposes only. They are just the DG so no fancy cargo addon has been created or utilized.

And since it passes a bit sooner than the original landing scenario, I have redone the landing scenario to have an identical Mars to Earth plan. This way the launch from Mars can be less stringent and be allowed to not be oriented with the passing cargo ship. Even if it's of different eject orientation it will on the same eject plan and be able to dock up probably within a day or two.

I found a scenario that start 4 days after the first ship but because of the eject it arrives for its sling 14 days after the landing. The idea is for the landing craft to launch and eject as the supply ship passes Mars and dock with it in the hours after its eject from Mars. This way the landing craft doesn't have to pull many months of supplies, and Earth re-entry hardware up with it from the surface and accelerated up to eject speeds.
Remember, these scenarios are for navigation purposes only. They are just the DG so no fancy cargo addon has been created or utilized.
