Hi there <First post... yay>

I've been playing Orbiter for a good while now, and I have come to a certain situation where upon earth's atmosphere, I wish to keep the altitude constant NOT by any burning, but by adjusting the pitch of the ship.

So, here's the premise: Ship is cruising with no engines but it wishes to remain at a certain altitude, it would automatically pitch up/down to nullify the vertical speed and therefore maintain altitude.

Is there any MFD out there that provides such a mechanism?

Thank you

Welcome to the forum :hello:

[ame="http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=2139"]AerobrakeMFD[/ame] can do -up to a point- what you are asking.

Obviously, without any engine burning, the atmospheric drag will slow down your ship.
In order to keep a fixed altitude, AerobrakeMFD can compensate by changing the trim and/or the AoA, but when you reach the point where the drag overcomes the lift, you will lose altitude.

Thank you.... I am trying something experimental out and I'll give this a shot.

More on this later.
