Project Mission Control For Orbiter (Rebirth)

First MCFO Test results!

hello.
ladies and gentlemen, im glad to report that the first transcontinental testing of mission control was a total and utter FAILURE!!!

yes, ok, not glad to report it but happy because I had the chance to see how things went.

Good things:
* I am receiving data and sending data fine which is the most important because it means the network code i've got is stable, just needs a little tweak in the code.

Bad Things:
* Any change I make now may take ages to fix because it requires people to host online and i've got no one to host so I can't tell if what im changing is making it work!

Please Please Please! Orbiter community, please PM me and let me know if you are interested in helping. you can help by contacting me and allowing me to connect to your orbconnect running a DG4 scenario (orbiting docked with ISS). you need to provide me with your IP address and the time you will be online. PLEASE DONT POST YOUR IP ADDRESSES HERE or you may get hacked!

I live in australia and therefore have a dissimilar timezone to most orbinauts so please aussie orbinauts please help out a great project!

I'm swamped with work, getting ready for a conference next week. When I return, I'll come back here and look. Feel free to email me at [email protected] to bug me too. This is intriguing. I'm very versed in C#.net and less so in VB.net, but I can work with it. I'd be happy to be a test subject, but I need to know what to do. I haven't followed all of the discussions here. Can you post a set of instructions and links for someone who wants to be a test subject? Or point to the message that has that info already ;-)))

Dave,

I have been waiting for a mission control program since my introduction to Orbiter and I think you are doing a great job with MCFO.

Now, although I am new to the forums, I assure you that I have been watching MCFO evolve and mature for quite some time.

Also, I have a very basic and rudimentary knowledge of c++ and c#, but to speed things up, would it be possible to use the MFDs from Orbiter into the program? I would think that if grabbing the correct input parameters is possible, then I believe that if you are able to incorporate the MFDs into MCFO, it might make a few things easier on the monitoring side of things...especially with the Map MFD and plotting the orbit across the map surface.

Now, I dont know if these suggestions will work, and if they don't I am sorry for wasting your time. At any rate, I am very excited to see this program in a functional state. I am planning to use Orbiter and a mission control program with some friends so the development of this program is very exciting to watch.

I would be very willing to provide a LAN-type testbed for you, if you desire.

Again, Big fan! Love what you are doing to enhance the Orbiter experience.
