Orbiter Video Contest - Summer 2008

Okay folks, I will not be participating in this one. I don't really have the time to make any films right now anyway, but I thought it would be fun to host a contest for the members of Orbiter-Forum. I'd love to see some videos from the members! So, review the rules below and get started today!




VIDEO CONTEST RULES

• Only registered users of Orbiter-Forum may enter the contest.
• Entries must be uploaded to You Tube and the video link posted in this thread.
• Members may enter only 1 video in the contest.
• Content and storyline is up to the creator, however all videos must be filmed with Orbiter.
• The video length must be at least 1 min, but no more than 10min.
• All videos MUST include end credits for Orbiter and addons used.
• All videos must be submitted by June 30, 2008 at 11:59pm (GMT)

On July 1, 2008 I will create a poll with all video entries so that the members may vote for the winner of the contest. If there is a tie, we will hold a tie breaking poll for those entries.

Videos should be judged on the following:

1. Content
2. Originality
3. Video Editing


*Please, post ONLY official video entries in this thread. Any other videos posted in this thread which are not considered an entry in the video contest will be removed from your post.

Let's hear what you guys think, rules sound good? I'm thinking I will make a special badge for the winner or something. Unfortionately I have nothing to really offer for winners in the form of money or awards, but I'm open to ideas and suggestions. Feel free to post below.

Very cool. I was looking at the title and thought tex would win hands down, until I saw you wherenot entering.

Here are some more judgements that you may consider:

• Sound (I mean the general audio/music during the video)
• Storyline, maybe this can be combined with the current 'Content' judgement

If the winner is chosen with just one End-Poll (or more if , on itself okay to me, but then it maybe hard for the voters to specify each judgement. Maybe by adding percentages to each judgement, to make the end results more clear/fair... But i'm not sure how this should be done, separate polls might make it just too complex.

Yea, I think that would be fine, as long as the majority of the video features Orbiter. For example, my last film was mostly Orbiter, but I did some blue screen effects at the end and only used the probe from Orbiter over some digital paintings. Point being, the film primarily featured Orbiter.

Yea, more than one poll will get confusing I think unless there is a tie. The last video contest I was in on a big board was hard to even get members to vote, so we should be lucky if we get many votes with one poll.

The contest is a really good idea, and I might try my hand at it. I am concerned by something though, and I have seen this happen during screeenshot contests and such, but it appears that you Orbiter guys are a pretty tight group, and you only vote for people you like regardless how bad that person's screen shot is. You vote for him any way. Some guys you don't like produces a screeenshot that is primo and very good, most of you will ignore it, or vote it down not for the content of the screen shot, but because you dislike the person. I've seen you forum people do this countless times, and I can easily see this video contest going the same way.

But then again you might just all surprise me and be fair. Who knows?

I've been making videos a couple years now and I would never vote for a video on a friend basis. I value the work put into each video and would hope that everyone was mature enough to vote for the best video.

I dont think there should be a judge, maybe just to make sure the video is according to the contest rules.
But the winner video will be chosen by everyone who votes on the final poll.

Thats over $500! Maybe if members donated for the prize pool, but wheres the incentive for those not making a video? I think a prize would be great, but not something that expensive.

PS: There are other ways to get Vegas if you so desire. Why don't you just use google, you can find ANYTHING on google bro.
