Problem Pad 39B replacement in Orbiter 2010

HELP! I need somebody....not just anybody....HELP!

Hi, I am encountering a problem regarding the replacement of LC-39 Pad and Launch tower. I honestly hate the default LC-39, looks pretty ugly. So I decided to replace it with something which looks ultra realistic. I tried downloading LC 39 EAFB 2006.3, but the problem is, when I tried to place it in canaveral.cfg, the shuttle ends up floating in mid air with no pad or tower. I also installed Hi-Res KSC but the launch tower looks like it's missing a mesh and texture, looks incomplete. Even if it is incomplete, it wouldn't be the type of LC 39 I want, I want it ultra realistic and accurate. Can anyone here please tell me how to replace the default Launch Tower and Pad 39B for Orbiter 2010, ESPECIALLY the launch tower? Help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Anyway, there are a few ways to improve the looks of the KCS launch sites, but it may take some digging around with the search function (there are a few threads in the forums already).

The super simple easy process would be to grab Thorton's excellent [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=3737"]International Space Station v.3.2[/ame]

You will also need David413's shuttle fleet (do a google/whatev search for simviation shuttle fleet, latest rev is 4.8 I think).

A handy follow on is Donamy's [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=5633"]US ISS A to Z v.3[/ame]

As in all things, Read The Friendly Manual!

Shuttle fleet is pretty cool, but with the added features of thorton's addon gives it max-Q effects on liftoff, and contrails from the wingtips during various stages of the re-entry.

As for the launch tower, it's all there, and automated. The launch sequence starts around T-12 minutes or so.

dgatsoulis has a great LC-39 Pad replacement that doesn't require any other add-ons. I'll point this thread out to him so he can zip it up and attach here or something.

Unfortunately, I did a major cleanup a few weeks ago and deleted some projects that I had no interest in anymore. The launchpad was one of them.

New Orbiter beta has very good looking Pad39! It`s not fully functional yet, i think...
also Edwards AFB also is cool with new terrain\elevation support.

Well, the I LOVE The ISS launch tower - Thanks! Looks great. But here's my problem: I want the default Orbiter 2010 Launch tower cfgs, meshes and textures to be replaced with the EXACT ones like in the ISS addon. I usually test it in the scenario "Atlantis satellite Launch" or "Atlantis Launch at Sunrise". Please send me the codes and what I need to replace, and the default canaveral.cfg file fresh from the installed package, because I somehow edited mine earlier and forgot to create a backup. Thanks.

I'm at work at the moment (lunch break), so I can't go into too much detail, but it seems you may need to search the forums for details on how to use slat's pad 39A (and B?). I seem to recall that there is a trick to getting it in place and everything working (and looking) properly.

As far as your "original" canaveral.cfg. Take a look at [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=4704"]Launch Complex 39 Fully built out[/ame]
It should have most of what you need (and maybe something you might be interested in).

When I installed Launch Complex 39 fully built out, I get a blank launchpad so my shuttle is floating in midair.

I remember! You will need to manually comment out sections of the canaveral.cfg file to select which launch pad you are using. It's in the readme.

There's two parts to getting the LC-39 included with the ISS v3.2 add-on to work.

The first is to add this to the scenario (*.scn) that you want it in:

Are you sure you edited the right scenario file? Also here's the proper POS values for either 39B or 39A:

I used it on the default Atlantis Satellite Launch scn

Turns out better, but not fully satisfied. I end up getting an HD-looking Launch pad, but I end up with a Launch Tower I do not like. And the alignment of the Shuttle, it is too much to the left that it does not stand a correct position on the pad.

Now the problem gets worse. First, when I tried to replace the pads to the ones from the ISS pads in the default Launch scenarios, the meshes and textures of the pads just double. And when i reinstalled LC39 fully built out, the satellite Launch scenario closed orbiter due to a critical error, and the sunrise Launch still works fine, but a new problem: The Apollo 17 Launch Tower for the Saturn 5 is on top of the Pad too, poking out the shuttle meshes. I'll upload the files here, and please edit it for me as soon as possible. Thanks

I'm 99% sure that both of those are from the previously mentioned ISS by thorton, but I could be mistaken. But the Max-Q effects lead me in that direction.

As far as why you have launch pads stepping on one another is that they haven't been commented out (as directed).

In the cfg you provided you leave the stock hardstand and tower, as well as Kev's Apollo era towers. Commented out is Kev's Shuttle era tower.

Of this addon you really only need the mesh file and textures don't concern yourself with the config files, as they would overwrite what you are custonizing anyway.

I reinstalled Orbiter and now the program turned into a corrupted file, can't work, and also the satsat.dll

If yes then... DO NOT use the supplied config/earth/base/canaveral.cfg that come with it, you don't need it. All you really want is the mesh and textures. I'll show you why.

Find your canaveral.cfg and delete this;

Note that the POS (position) has been moved? That centers up the stack to where it looks better on the pad. If you want to move to the other launch site, it's matter of using the scenatio editor. Select Atlantis, and location (on the ground) and use the radio buttons to shift the coordinates to the new spot you want.

If you want to use the launch tower that comes with ISS 3.2, then DaveS has already given you those instructions.

Also, to comment out something from a .cfg file;

The ISS (by Thorton) launch tower is a vessel, the Kev Shanow tower that I use is scenery. Look at page 1 of this thread, DaveS told you how to do what you want to do.
