Hey guys, is there a realistic reentry simulation? It seems like it doesn't matter what angle you hit the earth, the chutes open up and everything is fine. Shouldn't there be a narrow 2.5 degree entry corridor where if you come into steep, you burn up and if you come into shallow, you skip off the atmosphere like a rock off a pond?

Yes, there is a basically complete reentry simulation in Version 7.0 Beta. You can fly the reentry manually or automatically controlled by the AGC. I don't think you can actually burn up, but you will see on the G-Meter, if you have screwed up.

If you hear the klaxon going off, it means you're dead. It won't break apart like the Ravenstar, but there are parameters programmed in to alert you if you've "died", so to speak.

EDIT: Just for the record, once you splash down, regardless of whether or not you e opened the hatch, you can run out of O2 and BOOM!, the klaxon will go off. It was a bug I guess. I'm not sure if they've ever fixed that. But just an FYI.

Not when I last compiled the sources fresh from repository. But maybe it changed since.

There's been updates to source since then but no beta module releases. As soon as Sourceforge is sorted out and things are settled I will be generating a new beta release.

As for suffocating on the ground, I'll look for it.
