There's recurrent talk about doing a complete Project Gemini pack, that unites all the individual add-ons and "add-ons for add-ons" that came out over time.
I'm leaving out the excellent "Gemini Missions 1.0" because its self contained and unrelated.

Since the first step for that is getting permission from the original authors, I'm opening this thread just for that.

So please don't make this a discussion about what to add or fix, just a way to get the green light from all and assemble proper credits and conditions.

In Orbiter Hangar we have working for the latest Orbiter version:

On Pappy's Hangar:
* PATCH-R3b for Gemini Projet addon by jacquesmomo

( » explicit permission given)

If I'm missing something just say so. I'll update this first post as needed.

So I ask each author to indicate if:
a) they are OK with having their add-ons re-released as part of an integrated Gemini package
b) if there are any special conditions (indicate which)

_________________________________________________________________________

I go first:
a) Yes, I 4throck (Ricardo Nunes) don't object to a repack/re-release of my Gemini related Orbiter add-ons.
b) Conditions are:
-That I'm properly credited,
-That the material is only used for Orbiter Space Simulator and in the spirit which it was given: free, within the scope of a realistic simulation for cultural, scientific, historical and educational purposes.
-That the release is only through a single site (Orbiter Hangar for convenience)

Will this pack change any file names of Project Gemini 2010?

If I had full permission and if no else stepped forward to integrate things, I'd use the original file names as much as possible. Otherwise there would be another duplicate "Project Gemini" folder in the scenarios, things like Gemini3b2014.cfg and all sorts of clutter... My idea is really to replace all those separate releases and fixes with a single distribution that you could extract over you Orbiter install.

But first we need to know what add-ons can be redistributed. Until then...

I'm on board. You have my permission to re-release my Gemini add-ons. (Small contribution that it is.) Credit would be appreciated. Regarding the Gemini Era Tracking Network Bases that was included in "Gemini Radio" I read through a lot of the mission reports & reworked the bases with exact coordinates for most of the ground sites and also have assigned station coordinates for the 3 tracking ships specific to each mission. Currently testing that for mistakes & will release that under developer resources at OHM.

Regarding the ground stations, I recommend that they be used in conjunction with this
[ame="http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=6231"]Space Network Plugin[/ame]
rather than ground bases.

I already converted the Apollo manned spaceflight network in a similar fashion.

Please go ahead and use my splashdown cfg.

If I may make a suggestion - please make the Titan UAP compatible - it allows for more accurate RV launches. The recent release is good, but it can be hard to target an object in orbit with a low enough Rinc - UAP will help with that.

All suggestions are good, but the goal (at least for me) is to simplify things for what we already have, not add more features that may or may not play well together.

Other than that, business as usual, each developer is free to release his updates as before. Eventually those updates will be packed by the end of the year, and the cycle restarts

Well... just remember: This year is the 50th anniversary of Gemini 1. ;)

(And next year will be really busy with Gemini!)

---------- Post added at 04:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:53 AM ----------

Some visual improvements, that I noticed this christmas during my own Gemini experiments, that would be nice to get into the package:

The horizon scanner head is missing, it is visible in this photograph below the right window:

GPN-2006-000034.jpg

The active scanner mirror is moving back and forth, you can see the motion very prominent in the Gemini 6 & 7 rendezvous film even from far away. The scanner head is jettisoned together with the retro section before reentry and covered by a fairing during launch.

The camera like sensors on Gemini 7 are ion flow sensors that had been installed as experiment.

That would be the left window.

That would be the left window.

I had thought about that problem about 15 minutes before deciding that image coordinates are better than "left", "-X" or "port".

(I was already really tired after 16 hours without sleep)

And actually, its the Cryo Spectrometer/Interferometer experiment on the top starboard side of the spacecraft and the radiometer experiment on the lower port side (Both part of experiment "D4/D7 Celestial Radiometry/Space Object Radiometry"), not the ion flow sensors - this experiment was installed on Gemini 10, but that photograph was of Gemini 7.

Updated the first post to reflect the explicit permissions given.
Since some people don't come to forum on a frequent basis, I'll let some more time pass, and then try to contact them directly.
