Well this was a fun project, I bought a 10N0016 ink cartridge and refills for 10N0016 and 10N0227 from ABC ink.

Today the color ink was finally getting low, so I decided to fill it up.

It took a little grunting to pry the top off the cartridge. After I got the top off I shoved some ink inside. I thought this was sooo easy I couldn't believe I was paying $17-$25 a cartridge. (I only used about $2.50 worth of refill ink.)

So after attaching the cover back on and running a cleaning page, Normally it looks like this;

I got this;

2 is this.jpg
:(

So I made a print page that doesn't use black ink because the black ink is just fine.

So the print should look like this;
4 should be.JPG

but it looked like this;

:dry:

Well printing 3 or 4 pages like this yielded nice clean color prints.

So now the pages are looking (almost) like brand new. :)

Not bad for $2.50 :) but I still see why ink cartridges costs so much, the cartridge and electronics, and getting the ink into the cartridge. It took a good hour to finish the project.

I've always had dubious results, from leaking, to drying out, to over bleeding, to general mess-making. And sometimes good luck and a working cartridge! Why not try a continuous-feed ink system?
