Idea Shuttle Fleet recompile for Orbiter 2016

Everything appears now, but the stage seems under powered: max thrust is 267.3 and the apogee barely increases. The fuel mass is 8.85k. Could there be a decimal issue somewhere in the .dll?
not sure what the values should be.

So from the article:
A KM NOZZLEANTENNATLM iATTEHV SAFE a ARMISS/LAGEDS SCPARAT10N PLANEFig. 3 - LAGEOS SystemA separation subsystem will permit satellite deployment without contact with the LAS structure. Then, a yo-tumble will unbalance the LAS structure by means of a mass release to avoid recontact. Both functions are pyrotechnically actuated.The telemetry and beacon subsystem is composed of a decoder, transmitter and related antenna for:* tracking and acquisition of the LAS during transfer orbit and insertion into final orbit* data acquisition of the LAS status during operations* tracking of the LAS after satellite releaseThe on-board power is initially supplied by the IRIS system while LAGEOS is still in the Orbiter cargo bay. After separation from IRIS, power to LAGEOS is provided by 6 Ag-Zn 28-V batteries operating for a minimum of 90 minutes up to 4 days (telemetry batteries).The solid propellant rocket motor is the Mage 1SC, qualified by the European Space Agency and successfully utilized as an apogee motor installed in many European satellites.The Mage 1SC has a specific impulse of 290.4 s for a total energy of 11.7 x 10 E 5N in the case of maximum propellant loading. It can be off-loaded up to 20%, depending on mission requirements.The LAGEOS system weighs 911 kg:* 405 kg for the satellite* 38.5 kg for on-board avionics (batteries included)* 387.5 kg for the Mage motor* 80 kg for the primary and secondary structures, separation subsystems, thermal control, ktrness and ballast misses

Total mass excluding Lageos is 502. So maybe 100kg fuel and 402 mass? isp 290.4 and max thrust 1170000
?

Also working on a payload for sts 109.

Will not be functional just static. Not sure on textures on the pallet. I am going with a white and gold/orange foil on the rest?

Thanks.

So Lageos2 is 409KG
So make IRIS mass 1574 including 1270 propellant?
ISS mass 1003

IRIS MAGE1sc engine thrust values?
The Mage 1SC has a specific impulse of 290.4 s for a total energy of 11.7 x 10 E 5N in the case of maximum propellant loading.
so ISP 290.4 and max thrust 1170000?

Just wanted to notice that in STS-52 addon CTA.dll is missing.

CTA:CTA line in scenario shows there must be CTA.dll, isn't it?

No dll just a cfg:
Code:
; === Configuration file for the sts01 Bridgerail===

Meshname = STS_PAYLOADSNEW/CTA
Mass = 1
Size = 4.0

EnableFocus = FALSE
EnableXPDR = FALSE

;===attachments===
BEGIN_ATTACHMENT
P .102 .582 0.0  0 1 0  0 0 1  GS
P 0 0 0  0 1 0  -1 0 0  XS ;SHUTTLE
END_ATTACHMENT

Oops, thanks, I totally forgot about the existance of these ordinary .cfg files, when there is no need for spacecraft3\4 .ini or .dll files.

I guess there is still the question of mass,thrust,propellant mass for the iss and iris

this is what I have for sts 109:
7ehdVHj.jpg

Thanks so for the IRIS I get:
Code:
void STS52IRIS::clbkSetClassCaps(FILEHANDLE cfg)
{
	// physical specs
	SetSize(7);
	SetEmptyMass(157);//maybe extre 409 lageos?
	SetCW(0.3, 0.3, 0.6, 0.9);
	SetWingAspect(0.1);
	SetWingEffectiveness(0.1);
	SetCrossSections(_V(2.73,3.41,3.53));
	SetRotDrag(_V(0.1, 0.1, 0.1));
	if (GetFlightModel() >= 1) {
		SetPitchMomentScale(1e-4);
		SetBankMomentScale(1e-4);
	}
	SetPMI(_V(.61,.53,.78));// .88, .99, .84
	SetTrimScale(0.05);
	SetCameraOffset(_V(0, 2, 1));

	EnableTransponder(true);

	INTELSAT = CreateAttachment(false, _V(0, 0, 0), _V(0, 1, 0), _V(0, 0, 1), "LAGEOS", true);

	SetMeshVisibilityMode(AddMesh(oapiLoadMeshGlobal("STS_PAYLOADSNEW/STS52IRIS2")), MESHVIS_ALWAYS); //Main ship mesh

	PROPELLANT_HANDLE tank3 = CreatePropellantResource(FUELMASS);
th_main[0] = CreateThruster(_V(0, 0, 0), _V(0, 0, 1), 66000, tank3, ISP);
Code:
const double FUELMASS = 1574;//2400
const double ISP = 291;//33000
const double MAXRCSTH = 50;//500

Going with specs for the IRIS. Looks like the MAGE1 is listed. It is the rocket for the ISS
so thrust=34KN mass empty looks to be:39.3 fuelmass410 isp291

The only thing I’d change would be the propellant mass of IRIS to 1270 kg, unless you’re planning on using it with other launchers.

So here sts109 in orbit.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1LPvciQ6YzDNdoqk-IdJyVD0Qwj3SNUCc

and new modules for 2010which are the same for 2016 for sts52.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1LPvciQ6YzDNdoqk-IdJyVD0Qwj3SNUCc

So on the payload for sts109. it is static. I think with a little code? the FSS could rotate and grap the HST

But the forward section seems bare.

I would say the sts2016 is about 99% ready. Just maybe update sts109. the doc need to be redone. Keys added,......

They went from a somewhat analog cockpit to a glass cockpit in the late 90s/early 00s after each OMDP.

Thanks. So do we want the FSS to rotate and attach to the HST for sts 109?

That would be cool, glad to see this all coming together!

---------- Post added at 05:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:02 PM ----------

Just tested the new 52 dll’s for 2010, it seems like there were no changes and the stack spins the opposite way upon release.

Weird so no thrust,mass changes? I can reverse the rotation direction The dll are the same for 2010 and 2016. So I wonder if the direction needs to be changed also

Didn’t appear so, the mass is still listed as 9953.22 kg and thrust was still 267.3 N.

so fix the rotation but it seems the mass and thrust are different:

Sts109 for 2016 with HSt attached.
8rd9rKI.jpg

But how do you detach the HSt from the shuttle?

On the mass. Since the ISS and IRIS are docked. Should the mass be the total of them and the LAgoes? Then when undock the mass should be just the ISS?

Last edited:
So a new sts109 scn and mesh,..... Using the hst code the HSt auto attaches to ring.

New press K to detach the HST. It springs off. May need to press twice? Because of auto attach it has to spring off before it is in range.

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1713jV_AIog8DzruUq-_gnaa9sxnQz6ux

This will be part of the whole release. To get to work in 2010 may need some work.

And got sts125 to redo for 2016. These and the sts 52,.... maybe separate from the whole package

---------- Post added at 04:59 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:45 AM ----------

Also new modules for sts52. 2010 and 2016 use the same.

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1fYbEJ-KdEjBYYzLX7QRCaNRt2kkManIr

So it seems to get the HST off the shuttle you may need to attach it to the rms and move it. Makes sense.

Yes the HST was always moved into position for release, above the Shuttle's bay for release.
