News Silver Spitfire. Coming to an airport near you.

The tracking data on the spitfire is slow/intermittent. The "follower" plane landed in Iceland this evening.

I'd like more news on their website. It looks like the Spitfire is still in Scotland.

Looks like its a bit of a one-man band, they will have to get better at their information output if they expect people to stay interested.

It does look like a glorified wrist-watch promo, but credit to them for getting the machine to as many places as they promise.

Keeping a plane that old in the air for four months straight is not a small feat.

Interesting, according to flightradar24 link above it landed at Vagar at 13:10?

It was not listed under arrivals today, so I missed it. (I'm about 1 hour away from the airport)

Well, that must be a real(insert anything you like here!).

I've only seen a few Spitfires at air shows, but they always excel.
Saw a big Balbo many years ago at Duxford display. The merlin sound is magical, though I do prefer the four of them from a Lancaster.

Testing or a demo?

Looks like he always had an opportunity to land. First Tungubakkaflugvöllur (love those names :)), then to some grasslands west of lake Þingvallavatn, Sandskeið and back home. Could be a test. Could be a flight for some nice pics.

Indeed, I'm sure they are checking everything for the trip to Greenland.

He flew over a few villages here to show the plane. IMHO way too high because he was worried about the noise. (yep, he actually called it noise. Not good!!)

If I had VMC and a Spitfire, I would not spend much time on the ground.

Excellent, you must be the first Orbiter to see it!

I'll have to wait a few months to get a chance.

Re the Me109 comments on the first page, found a nice video of one at the Biggin Hill Air Display:

Yesterday, when I was at my home glider site, I had the luck to be at right time and place to see (and hear!) the last flying B17 in Europe flying by.

There's an airshow in Ede next saturday where it is expected. It's also rumored that one or two flying Bf 109's will be put on display. That, to my knowledge, would be the first time that this plane can be seen flying in The Netherlands.
