I wonder why they don't mention where those "historic" engines will end up...

Not very far away this time unless something fails horribly.

Actually, there was one time where the engine "went places" during a test firing
SSME-and-LE-7-failures.png



Not related, but the Viking 8 rocket actually broke away from the pad during a test firing and flew for a while.

Back to this test, looks like we are coming to show time! T-9 minutes.

if something goes wrong, I think there is no cause for concern, as the post shows above, on tests, and not so happened

499.6 seconds between ignition and shutdown commands.

Yeah that's better full duration test, they will get "real" data from it. Now I was a bit concerned by that fire at the bottom of the rocket, but fire insulation did its job and that fire would have had no air to burn in space or even high atmosphere. (y)

The aft end of the shuttle ET got worse burning due to plume re-circulation from the SSMEs and the SRBs and it handled it with no issues.

... but they have 2 SRBs very close and plume recirculation.


Press briefing in about 2 hours.
