Not exactly a new idea. Electronic board games have been around for a loooong time, and never really took off.
Now granted, the use of technology here allows for a lot more flexibility, but I have my doubts it will succeed. For one because only few are really interested in sound effects and stuff in a board game (there's usually enough noise at the table, and if you need sound effects, it's a lot more fun to make them yourself), for two because rules tinkering is a time-honored tradition with board games, and for three because nobody wants to hassle around with malfunctions and bugs during a board game, and they are inevitably bound to happen...
