All boards are now green after completion of the testing and calibration session over the last 2 weeks. All our supplies have been topped off and the new XR5 has docked with our port side docking port. we are preparing to cast off the ISS sometime tomorrow morning and depart for the Lunar Station and the completion of SSTV-01 Mission #1. We will be using 8 of the EHEs (6 forward, 2 aft) for our TLI burn, 4 (2 forward, 2 aft) for each of the MCC's planned for our Earth to Moon trip, and 6 (4 forward, 2 aft) for the LOI burn. 4 EHEs (2 forward, 2 aft) will be used for burns in lunar orbit.

Although we could fly a much faster Earth to Moon trip, it was determined that going any faster than ~3 days would put unnecessary stresses on the crew. We will continue to perform all our orbital calculations on-board with no assistance from ground control. Because the Earth-Sun-Moon system is actually a 3-body problem in orbital mechanics, it is much easier to fly a slower mission with plenty of built in mid-course correction burns than a faster mission with limited correction opportunities.

Remaining mission timeline is as follows:
  • T+390 days Undocking from ISS and TLI
  • T+391 days MCC #7
  • T+392 days MCC #8
  • T+393 days LOI and docking with lunar station and official end to Mission #1
