i was docking with the ISS not too long ago, and i noticed (again) the annoying APAS rings on the default ISS that have 4 "spades" instead of the real-life APAS, which uses only 3, which has raised some issues and questions for me:
so, now i have quite a composite thread:
on one hand, is there a replacement mesh out there that can fix the APAS rings to have the correct number of spades?
also, i was wondering about the construction of them, as far as modelling an APAS ring is concerned:
i was under the impression that an APAS ring had a diameter of 1.82m (around the outer perimeter, then 3 spades, with the 12, 4 and 7 o-clock spades on the station side (i know thats not a perfect assumption, but it works as far as we concern a spacecraft docking to the ISS) and the spacecraft using spades oriented at 2, 6 and 10 o'clock (check how ive modeled the APAS on my Haworth if the words dont make sense to you.
has anyone every actually modelled an APAS based on their actual size and shape? or do we all just guess it like me
thanks guys
