Since we have brand new forum, I was thinking of starting a "Get to know each other thread". Just a little way to bring the community a little closer together. Maybe we share common interests, excluding Orbiter :).

Just to kick things off:

What's up!?

My name is Dan Moser. I'm a student at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana, Great Ole USA. I'm a professional pilot major and absolutely love everything I am studying. I'm eighteen and discovered Orbiter two and half years ago.

I love flight simulation, currently I play with FS2004, Orbiter, and IL2. My profile name has the RAF92 tag because I am in an online virtual squadron that I joined up in 2003. I've good friends with the other guys for some time now. I play guitar and play my favorite tunes to my favorite band, U2. Yes, I love Bono, Edge, Adam, and Larry.

I consider myself knowledgeable about flight simulation and in flight itself, so if you have a question, I'll be happy to answer it or do my best to assist you.

Best of wishes!

My name is Fred Fleuren and I live "Down Under" Adelaide Australia, so if you see me flying upside down, you'll know why but in space it really doesn't matter anyway. I'm a young 52 yo (well nearly) and have flown flight sims since they first came out.

Over 1800 hrs with MSFS series (Currently with the B767) and learning the ropes with Orbiter.

I've been using Orbiter for about 2 months now and loving every minute of it even if I don't understand most of the jargon and tech stuff that's hanging around the forums but kudos to the talent out there in Orbiter world of space simulation.

I'm Gareth from Wrexham in North Wales, UK. I'm 30 years old and work as a programmer/report writer for a college.

Always been interested in flight sims, right from probably 5 years old when I first bought the ZX Spectrum and it came with a game called "Flight Simulation", although at 5 years old, I hadn't got a clue what I was doing, and the rather sparse graphics didn't help a great deal either!

Since around 2002, I've got into flight sims again. I've always preferred the more sedate pace of stuff like MSFS than being chased down by enemies in IL2 and other similar games, although I did like TFX back in the early days of owning a PC (1994-ish).

I've also always had an interest in astronomy and physics and I completed a BSc in astrophysics at Cardiff Uni in 1998, but in the 9 years since then, I've barely used it.

I found Orbiter probably 18 months or more ago but I hadn't got a clue what I was doing, so I uninstalled it. Then a year or so ago after watching one of the shuttle launches on Sky News, I decided to give it another look. It really is a game that you have to "RTFM" in order to know what you're doing and it takes a lot of work, but it gives a great sense of achievement when you get something right!

Hi, my name is Rob and I'm an Orbiter-addict.
Born and raised in Canada. Attended Waterloo for 3 or the required 4 years of Engineering but found it was interfering with my fixation on hang gliding. Withdrew very much to the chagrin of the family elders, even though I was still in the top 15 percentile of the class. Hitchhiked my way to California, worked many odd jobs to pay expenses while hang gliding. Started a hang gliding business and got married to a lovely lady.

Hi everyone! Nice to meet you all! Thanks for starting this thread too Dan, great idea. :)

My real name is Blake and I'm 26 from Texas, USA of course! :p Lets see, other than Orbiter I am an absolute Formula 1 addict, never miss a race. I'm not a NASCAR fan and really other than F1 I don't watch alot of motorsports. Other hobbies and interests would be scuba diving, sailing, camping, astronomy (observing the night sky with my telescope), any thing to do with flying or flightsims, PC gaming, websites and graphic design, building scale models, music, movies, and teh TV.

Hello, I am Muhammad from Saint Augustine , Florida. I am 15 years old (finally!) and am a student of Pedro Menendez high school. I found Orbiter at it's 2003 version release, and have been addicted to it since then. I haven't read the manual even once, and found out everything I know about Orbiter through experimenting. I like programming, and volunteering at a hospital near my house. I also enjoy writing, and playing cricket.

My real name is Nick. I am 14. I was born in London, Ontario. I moved to Melbourne, Australia, 18 months later.

I am currently in year 9 at school. I started using fs2004 about 6 years ago. I discovered a shuttle addon, but realised that there must more to spaceflight than going up. googled space flight simulator (this is a couple of years ago) and found orbiter.

I currently have a couple of addons in the works, but have not released any yet.

Hello.

My name is Rodion Herrera. I am 36 years old, and I've been an Orbiter user for over 4 years now. I have been making addons for it before, but lately due to work commitments I haven't done any. I have been involved in NASSP and Project Apollo addons, specifically the Lunar Module (reworked, orig. mesh by Ron Monsen), the Lunar EVA spacesuits, and misc. items. I have also been involved in Gemini meshwork and also made the Vanguard mesh for Jim's Vanguard addon.

Saw this site over at Facebook and so I decided to jump in and see who's here. :)

Hiya RODION! Welcome to the forum, thanks for joining! As you can see the site is still very new, but over time this place will be buzzing with orbiter users, especially given the reliability of M6.

:welcome:

Thank you for the warm welcome. Yes I've had trouble going back to the official board lately and have been getting errors, I do hope the admins over there fix it. But it's always nice to have a new community for Orbiter. :) Cheers and more power!

aka bumping... ;)

True, but I'm glad Chip did it, otherwise I would have missed out on an opportunity to tell the world about myself. :) So here goes:

I am 33yo living in Sydney, Australia (it is great to see plenty of other Aussies actively involved in the Orbiter community!). I have a wife and two children (3 & 1.5yo) which keep me pretty busy but I usually find a late night or two to indulge in Orbiter. I work as a consulting electrical engineer specialising in building services.

I discovered Orbiter in mid 2006 and have been hooked ever since. I have long been interested in space flight (Andy Thomas has a lot to do with that), astronomy and computing. Orbiter was a great way to combine all of these interests. I have recently dipped my toes into the add-on development world by updating and making some changes to the AttitudeMFD. The support from the Orbiter community has been fantastic! Other software projects I have worked on include an electrical vehicle energy performance simulator that I wrote from scratch in C for my thesis.

My other interests include water sports (mainly water skiing, sailing, sailboarding, fishing and boating) and home improvement (just ask my wife!).

It is nice to meet you all. Happy Orbiteering!

Hi everyone!

First of all, as this is my first post, thanks to all the people that make the "Orbiter Experience" possible!! that includes of course Martin Schweiger, and all the people that make the addons, like DanSteph, Artlav, ACSoft, Jarmonik... just to name a few. I can't remember all your names now! But be sure that every line of code and every hour of work its greatly appreciated by me !

So, my name's Alex and I'm from Spain, from Canary Islands to be more precise! Beatiful archipelago by the way :p

I'm 19 years old and I'm currently studying Technical Architecture, though this is becoming Edification Engineering in the near future I pressume.

Anyways, I've always been interested in computers and such, I've had a computer since I can remember. And of course simulators of any kind have been always on my interest, I had a couple of experiences with Flight Simulator 98 IIRC, and also racing simulations like GTR2.

Besides computers, my other main interest are guitar playing.. astronomy... and pretty much anything science-related. I've had a lot of pleasure reading books about the relativity theory, and strings theory... that kind of things made me think about the space a lot. However I didn't have a special interest in space flight because i knew very little of the subject.

But that was until a month ago! Then this incredibly marvellous simulation software just crossed into my way, by chance. Needless to say that i was totally impressed! I played one time, and look at me now, I'm a space flight enthusiast!! Hehe since I discovered this new passion just a month ago I have a lot to learn, but this just makes me like this little shiny piece of software even more!

Well and I guess that's it :p BIG BIG thanks to Martin and the development
community!

And, nice to meet you all :)

Happy Orbiting!

PS- As English isn't my mother language any correction to my grammar or whatever is highly appreciated, don't hesitate to correct any mistakes, it will only make me learn more.
