Hello! I'm new to orbiter, sort of. I d/l it several years ago, then got orders to Iraq (yeah, I'm a military guy). So, finally got around to d/l the newest version and paying with it.
...That hobby finally looks like it might finally be bearing fruit - I'm very close (1-2 months) to having my first mystery novel complete and ready for E-reader free upload...
Staiduk, good luck on your book. Actually, I was inspired to get back on Orbiter again after reading a new sci-fi novel from Amazon. It was a self-published ebook, and it was pretty good except for rambling prose (for the fist half) and a lack of science when it came to spaceflight. Not the FTL stuff (I understand why most sci-fi has FTL, if for no other reason than to move along the plot)...
So, this book described things like "the ship chasing us has a higher maximum speed!" (did the author mean acceleration?) and a few pages later the ship that took hours to reach "maximum speed" stops instantly and lands on a planet.
And roger... You get the idea.
Anyway, once on Orbiter I'm reminded why such disregard for physics is really a turn-off in sci-fi for me. What a great sim! Thanks to Martin Schweiger and all of you who have worked on developing it and the add-ons.
Oh, BTW, how do I close the main menu once I've opened it? I did a search and found this:
AMSO Main menu problem... Is there a better fix?
Thanks!
