Escape trajectory from the moon
On January 27th, 1967, three brave men...men that only a few people today recognize the names of gave their lives to space flight. These men were Gus Grissom, Edwad White, and Roger Chaffee..This was the crew of the blazing Apollo 1 mission.

About 2 and 3 quarters years later, on July 20th, 1969 Americans Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin walked where no human had walked before, the dry, dusty surface of the moon. You could ask almost any child what happened on that very day and you would probably be told "we walked on the moon." After all, we all know what happened that day.

But after a while, not only America, but the entire world had lost interest in the lunar landings. But on April 13th, 1970...Something happened that eventually made 90% of Americans stop what ever they had been doing and tune into Walter Cronkite or Jules Bergman...The Apollo 13 Service Module had exploded. What had been later identified as a damaged coil that sparked during both H² and both 0² tanks stir forced NASA to abort the mission and do everything possible to get Swigert, Lovell, and Haise back home. Thanks to Lunar Excursion Module Aquarius, the three splashed down safely.

Afterwords, Apollo 14 recovered faith in the Apollo program after landing safely in the Fra Mauro Highlands, the initial landing site for Apollo 13. But again, after Apollo 14, the world lost interest. Sure, there were a handful of people, either family or friends of the astronauts, or just space heads, that remained interested in the program, but the rest just put it off from their minds.

On December 11th, 1972, the last men walked on the moon...And due to budgetary concerns, Apollo 18, 19, and 20 were canceled. Nobody has walked in the imprinted footsteps since, which has resulted in the world forgetting about our moon from time to time...

"I sometimes look up at the moon...And wonder...When will we be going back...And who will that be?" -Tom Hanks (playing as Jim Lovell), Apollo 13.
