Hi. I tried to search for this problem in the forums but was unable to find any postings. I want to change the view of my cockpit (i.e., going from the control panel at the bottom or top and going to a head's up display). According to the instructions F8 key is used to change the view but it doesn't work. Does this only work for certain ships? I tried it with the Delta Glider.

Note-I am using the game on my laptop. Is it better to use it on a desktop?

Laptop: HP 8GB RAM 750GB Hard drive 2.60Ghz i5 processor Windows 8

Any assistance is appreciated.

Thanks,

Vinny

I think it's better on a desktop, mainly because of the keyboard, sometimes some maneuvers are time critical, and I just think it's easier to not rember to use some combination of keys to get it to do what I want.

As far as a VC (virtual cockpit) not all craft have one, many just have the generic cockpit. The stock DeltaGlider does have one, and you're right [F8] toggles through the views.

I've heard of the problem before, and I think the solution is usually graphics card settings.

If you have a laptop with no numpad on..then a definate recommandation would be to purchase a external usb type numpad. Very hard to do without in orbiter.

Do other function keys work? On some laptop keyboards, there is a separate "fn" (or similar) key that affects the way function keys are interpreted by the system, similar to a shift or control key. If this is the issue, there is likely a system setting to let you control how function keys are interpreted.
