Is it possible to create the Atlas II and Atlas III rockets using Velcro items?

I don't know (yet) about fairings, but about the other stages, yes, you can do them using Velcro. All you need is the MESH and the handmake CFG file - and a lot of testing, some details are a bit hard to get right.

If you are using 2010P1, you can use my custom version, but I recommend to use the stock one too for testing before publishing (and if you find any bug, please report it to me).

There are some problems, like for example whenever the HUD is activated in internal view immediately results in a CTD, and whenever boosters and fairings separate they appear a kilometer or so below the vehicle, but all things considered it works fairly well.

This os probably due Velcro using GDI for drawing. Adapting it to use Sketch would solve this issue.

A query. How can you increase the height of a rocket from the ground? for example, a Zenit this ground level to, say, 20 meters high? :sos:

Adding a PADBIAS line in the scenario file to the bottom-most stage is the simplest way to move it higher. There's more info on page 9 of the Velcro Rockets pdf.

Except it resets to "PADBIAS 1.00" if you make a quicksave or save the current scenario.

I know sputnik didn't design this addon with the new Beta in mind, but I've found that this addon works reasonably well with it. There are some problems, like for example whenever the HUD is activated in internal view immediately results in a CTD, and whenever boosters and fairings separate they appear a kilometer or so below the vehicle, but all things considered it works fairly well.

Some glitches I found on the (totally excellent) Velcro DLL was solved by just recompiling it on a new OrbiterSDK. That's what I did to "solve" the smoke problem that I even knew it existed at all until a fellow Orbiter mentioned it (Velcro was my entry point to Orbiter development and I'm using my custom version since them).

I figured out how to create the Atlas II rocket, but when I open the scenario containing that rocket, it's laying horizontally on the ground when it should be vertical.

I figured out how to create the Atlas II rocket, but when I open the scenario containing that rocket, it's laying

If you launch the vehicle, it goes upwards as expected, ignore the mesh attitude, or it runs on the ground?

Had you set the PRIMEBUSTER?

(I think the problem in on the vessel's CFG file, no the Scenario)

The vehicle runs on the ground.

It's a blind shot, but it appears that you forgot to define who will be the PRIMEBOOSTER on the stack. Without a PRIMEBOOSTER, the booster attachments can not rotate from the default definition at deploy.

try putting "PRIMEBOOSTER 1" on the Atlas definition and see what happens.

I want the LM and the payload CM1, are joined to SIVB. As I am doing the payload CM1 is "lying on the floor" under the rocket, if I remove the LM, the payload CM1 are placed on the site I want.

No for sure, I checked the code. There's a place for only one payload attachment, and if you add more than one PAYATCH line, the new one ovewrwrites the previous on the internal data structures.

Perhaps you can attach multiple invisible carriers on the same location, each one with its own PAYATCH?

Interesting... A least on my code, the new PAYATCH directive will always overwrite the previous one. But this is meaningless anyway, you can have only *ONE* payload on the module.

Try stacking up invisible, weightless carriers on the place you want the payloads - each carrier would have one payload attached.

Or, better yet, build a subcarrier to be the payload on your module - and place the payloads on the subcarrier. This will make Velcro happy and it's probably the easier way out anyway.

UCGO appears to the way to go for you about this issue.

Sorry; missed this. I'm away from my Orbiter machine, but take a look at the X-15/Blue Scout add-on, specifically the configs. As I recall, the orientation of the B-52 pylon is not intuitive; you'll need to change the orientation of the part of the Pegasus you're attaching to in order for it to work.

Real world application: Delta II launches from Space Launch Complex 2-West (SLC-2W) at Vandenberg AFB. Delta IIs launched from there hung on to their GEM-40's well after burn-out to clear several off-shore oil platforms. Wow, thanks. I did not know that, and I used to work on Delta II. In my defense, there were no V-Berg launches during my tenure.

I thought perhaps it might be possible to use a "Become = " to make a config that's also Velcro, same mesh, but has 1N thrust, a few seconds propellant, and the PARALLELBURN command to hook it back on until it burns out and separates. I'm not sure that would work...but it might.

How should I change the orientation? I'm not an expert in changing the Orbiting Earth RPOS, RVEL, AROT, or VROT. I'm only good at the Landed Earth part.
