If everything else fails, you can tilt the mesh 90° using MeshWizard...

Oh, I misunderstood you there. I thought you wanted to rotate ABOUT the Z-axis, but in fact it looks like your mesh is aligned around some other axis completely.

Well, LEM's and suchlike have this problem.

For this, you'll need the "long" specification. (That's what it's for). We'll need to tell it that instead of the +Z on the mesh pointing forwards with our rocket like we expect, the +Y needs to do that. (Or possibly +X; I can't tell looking).

So try:

SERIESBURN 0 Dome1 0.0000 0.0000 -2.0000 0.0000 -1.0000 0.0000 0.0000 0.0000 1.0000

See what that does for you. Or try _V( 0, 1, 0), or _V(1, 0, 0), depending on how your mesh works.

Hey, I've noticed in the scenario where the Aries 1b is launched on the Nova rocket that when the Aries is jettisoned after orbit, it appears on the ground. I'm using Velcro Rockets version 1.11 and World of 2001 version 3.11.

Hmm. That seems to be an issue with the Aries. Might be some weirdness left over when I had trouble getting the Polaris 1-XE to stay stuck on Phobos. I'll look into it. To tell the truth, I'd completely forgotten about that scenario.

Could the particle stream settings be made configurable as well as the 2D exhaust sizes?

Need some help with the LES for the Shenzhou9 launch. The way I have it, the boosters launch prematurely, when the time is up on the LES. Does someone know a solution for this ?

Don,

There's a one-cycle thrust loss as the LES is jettisoned. I'd think you'd want to delay LES jettison until the boosters separate (120 seconds after core ignition? Seems way early).

But, if that's the way you want it, set JETT_ON_MECO 0 for each of the four boosters. That should do it.

That causes a CTD at the 120 sec mark. :(

From what I understand, the LES tower seperates at 120 seconds, but the rocket has a secondary LES for later aborts. The boosters continue running until 155 sec, then 1st stage cutout at 159 sec. Unless someone can point me to more reliable info.

Hmm. I'm not sure why it would do that.

You could tie the LES to one of the boosters, instead of the core. With appropriate offsets to make it look right. On the other hand, the booster might separate at the point the LES stages, too. Hmm. Another dummy booster, effectively massless and thrustless?
Sorry; when I coded it, one of my working assumptions was that LES separation happens after boosters separate. Looks like it was an important assumption.

No apologies necessary my friend. I'll play around with it, but it's no big deal.

hmmm, New problem. When I try to launch from the China launchsight, the boosters fire in a sideways direction. I also noticed that all of your scenarios are launched from the Cape. Has anyone else noticed this ?

Never mind ! It worked when starting from the saved scenario.

I'm using velcro rockets for my latest project, as it has some major advantages over multistage.dll (as Donamy pointed out, you could easily reate a multi stage rocket with a VC).

It would be cool, if velcro rockets would support more customisation of the exhaust. Especially a bit more freedom with particle streams. Right now, only SRB particle streams are implemented. But I would really like to define my own particle streams. Would it be possible to implement that? This is a feature that I really miss.

Even better, why not do all of the work that youve been at for the past few days. Why not have the launch pad as the first stage in a velcro rocket? If the engines point up into the air you could simulate all of that awesome smoke effect seen on a Delta IV heavy launch right before lift-off. Then the first stage runs out & releases the rest of the rocket into the wild blue yonder.

Thanks for the suggestion. I could do that for the same effect. True. But I want to use the particle effects for the exhaust flame. And not just on the ground, but all the way up. I've experimented with that on a multistage.dll rocket and it gave very satisfying results.

Having this in a velcro based design would certainly be awesome.

Don,

I just realized what this was: the core, boosters, and all Velcro vehicles need to be stacked in the same location. If you paste in parts with some in China and others in the cape, weird results will follow. I've only seen lighting issues, but there could be others. But starting from a quicksave should fix it, as you saw.

Yes, I've used Velcro at locations other than the Cape. Not many, but a few....

This was always the next thing to add, but I never got very far with it. Partially because there didn't seem to be much demand, partially because it's a fairly big project on the data I/O side, and partially because the last time I messed with the I/O, I was tracking weird bugs for months and I've been reluctant to touch it again.
But I'll take a look at this.

I understand. Well if total customization is too complicated to implement, how about a few more particle options? Maybe the HYBRID option without the dark particles (just the yellow flame) and without the pink "billboard" texture in the middle. And of course, the ability to throttle the HYBRID engine would be much appreciated.

Maybe replacing the other "billboard" textures (LH2, KERO, etc) with their particle equivalents would already help a lot.

Sorry for the thread necro but I'm out of ideas.
I'm running Orbiter 2006P1 (060929) and I've been trying to get N-Molsons DG launcher [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=4652"]DG-Launcher (Europe) v1.01[/ame] to work, but I'm finding that not only do this mods items not velco together, but neither do the velcro 1.11 scn's rockets. I find that I have tanks, booster and vehicles spread all over canaveral and unconnected to the parent vehicle no matter which scenario I try. Without at least 1 working scenario I don't have any idea what I should be looking at as the cause of these problems.

Does anyone have a working DG launch scenario using velcro rockets 1.11 and N-Molsons DG-Launcher ?

The addons you are trying to run are not compatible with Orbiter 2006.
They should work ok in a clean Orbiter 2010-P1 installation.

ALL of them or just the DG launcher ?
Sputnik's EELV's are supossed to work but require velcro rockets, and the only ver I can find is 1.11
[ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=3462"]Velcro EELVs v1.02[/ame]
[ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=3388"]Velcro Rockets v1.11[/ame]

Is there an older velco rocket package I can use ?
