I thought I'd make an updated post for this type of discussion.

Why don't we discuss our computers with eachother? My desktop has AMT FX-6100, x6 Core Processor, and x32 Windows 7. In Orbiter, I usually get around 60-140 FPS. What do y'all have? Respond with your specs, and whether you're using a desktop or laptop. Let's see who has the most powerful machine!

Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section; I felt it was more relevant to post it in a section devoted to hardware/software rather the Burlington Lounge.

Desktop:

  • CPU: Intel Pentium G3420 @ 3.2 GHz/3.2 GHz
  • System RAM: 10 GB
  • Windows 7 Pro x64
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760

Not sure of the FPS as I'm running with V.synch activated which locks the frame rate to the monitor refresh rate (60 Hz).

  • 16 GB RAM

60 fps - because I also use VSync. Without VSync, its 120 fps in windowed mode.

H100i liquid cooler
2x GTX780 in SLI
2x Ripjaws 16GB DDR3
Asus Z87 Pro mobo
Corsair 1000W Power supply

Running orbiter on vsync 60fps cap though it reaches 800( yes, eight-hundred) if uncapped.

Nvidia inspector for 32x anti-aliasing for orbiter with 8x sparse grid super sampling.

Saitek X52 for simming

A notebook, but a decent one.

  • AMD A10 CPU, four cores at 2.1GHz
  • 8GB RAM
  • 1TB HDD. No SSD, sadly.
  • Radeon HD8610G with 5GB video memory

A typical Orbiter simulation runs at around 240 FPS without vsync in windowed mode. Fullscreen performance is about 1/10th that.

Click on the link of my signature for the specs/pictures of my desktop PC, all neat and tidy. :)

Short summary:
Intel Core i5 750 at 3.8GHz
Nvidia GTX560Ti at 900MHz
12GB DDR3 RAM at 1600MHz, CL9
All on an Asus P7P55D Evo, with the OS (Windows 8.1) and key apps/games/sims on a 120GB Samsung 840 SSD.

Well, I'm farsighted, so for monitor-reading I just put on a set of 1.5 diopter, store-bought reading glasses. Good compromise between close-up vision and mesopic (to 1m or so) vision.

Oh, is that not what you meant? ;)

Plus two pair of anaglyph glasses to enjoy 3D games "the retro way" (since I can't connect my 3D TV to my computer  )

:chainsaw:

No, seriously. Orbiter runs pretty smooth using stock DX7 client.
