Question What do you do with glitchy AddOns?

In DigTech's Website (or Blog) I'm writing about the "Perfect" Orbiter AddOn combination (http://dig-orbiter.blogspot.com/2009/04/creating-perfect-orbiter.html).
You all know that over-using AddOns and modifications increase the probability for incompabilities and/or inconsistencies leading to CTD. That with the bad quality (or just badly outdated) AddOns is the nightmare of a orbiternaut. So I'm collecting methods and tricks you use to avoid and prevent that.

I have several installations for different types of missions, currently four, for station building, probe missions, Shuttle Fleet, and the XR class. For me it is a better solution than the generic mod enabler because I did many changes to the configuration files.
