UMmu personal reentry vehicle, in shape of a backpack attached to the space-suit, with inflatable heat shield in it.
[ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=3732"]UMmu reentry pack[/ame]

Based on Paracone add-on ( [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=435"]Paracone 1.1[/ame] ), using the same mesh by sputnik.
Requires UMmu to work properly, DGIV is also recommended.

Proper operation ways:
*Attach the device and deploy it
*Orient prograde and fire the provided thruster till depletion
*Orient retrograde and wait until the sky is blue or G's are back to about 1.
*Once at 10Km detach and go down on your own parachute
*If unable to jump off at 10Km, land with the pack (30mph impact) and try to walk away from it

ToDo:
*Heat flux calculation
*Damage and passenger death based on heat flux and impacts
*Visual updates

This, my man, is incredibly cool. I've used the Paracone addon before, but I never thought of a UMMU version. Very nice!

However, I have only one thing to suggest, a suggestion which, of course, be thrown into the trash at your will. In fact, it's not even a good suggestion, but I digress.

I think it would be neat if you not only included DGIV payload support, but also support for the XR class payload system. I'm pretty sure that the two systems aren't mutually exclusive, and I haven't tested it yet to see if they are mutually inclusive (I'm pretty sure they aren't), but I do think it would be pretty awesome to lug sixteen of these things and sixteen security personell up into orbit, and then drop them down on the Earth on the unsuspecting bad-guys of the future.

Hm... Space Marines?
In early 60's, give or take a decade, there was a design made on our side of putting a reentry capsule on top of an ICBM with troops, infiltrators or VIP's in it. Thus, deploying operatives to any point of the world in under an hour.

I've checked the XR2 payload descriptions, looks compatible on first sight.
But i guess it would be better to make a rack of devices to be the actual payload, since one backpack for a slot is a bit wasteful.

Heh, Artlav, when you said Space Marines, my first thought was of Warhammer 40k...

I think the only problem you might encounter with making a rack payload for the XR class, which I assume would carry a bunch of packs as their own payload, is when people try to spawn a rack via the XR payload editor, there may be no actual packs spawned... I think.

But when I spawn, for example, an XR2, I also get a "XR2-X cargo bay". Just the same, the rack could possibly be coded to spawn all the attached packs.

just when you think it cant be done, he comes out with another masterpeice.

Very good addon. Maybe a change to the virtual cockpit with little dropdown hud and VC in front of the guy's helmet?

I would like to see a larger rack of chutes to fit in one slot of the XR5 bay. Chute everybody but 3-4 of the XR5 crew into an area. ;)

Ditch their paracone at 25km or higher and chute as low as possible.

A different kind of HALO jump. ;)

I cannot get the thruster to fire with the latest .DLL

This is very cool, a true emergency descent system.

Needs more units in the payload, XR support, and maybe a space station module that spawns them so you can evacuate a whole crew.

Or rain troopers on your enemies.
