I can't believe Angara-5 is already here!

Also, I like the thread title.

I can't believe we're having Dwarf Fortress references in the titles of Launch Announcements.
Some might consider it a bad omen :shifty:

Or D&D with the random monster thing.

But heck yeah! Angara is long overdue, good to see it fly.

That one should, if everything goes smoothly, comfort Russia in having the most powerful launcher around (24.5 tons to 200x200km, but also at a 45° equ. inc.)

So the launch seems to be planned for the 23rd (tomorrow), at 08:57 Moscow time ?

...which is GMT+3... so 5:57 GMT ? :hmm:

To carry on gaming references, should it be "I took a Falcon to the knee"?

Dang that's a good looking rocket though. Once it becomes operational, how long will Proton stick around?

Proton launches will continue until at least 2025, according to the same source which I linked in my previous post.

Proton-M is still extremely competitive, that's the thing.

I thought it was being phased out due to the fuel it uses or something? Maybe thinking of a different rocket. I'd read they want to use up all their converted ICBM that use UDMH for environmental reasons. That's (at least) one of the things that phased out the Cyclone.

Last hour before launch, no news from northern Russia just yet.
