about to bite the bullet and upgrade to Win 10 - any problems with Orbiter2010 or 2016?

Not sure, I am also still waiting for final reports... computer is already backed up, just in case.

Well, it is possible to downgrade back to your original OS if you don't like Windows 10. This option is only available for 30 days after your upgrade.

We did find (yet) another steam leak. Yesterday it was shooting steam about 5 feet or so, early last night it was 8-10 ft. When I left work this morning it was around 25 feet or so. Looks like a downpower is on tap for tonight maybe.

Or the management will just have a furmanite crew fix it in place (those dudes are a special kind of crazy).

Steam leaks don't improve with age. It's only a problem when the MUF can't keep up, right?

I'm running it on two different computers. No problems with Orbiter that I've noticed.

Meanwhile, back at the power pant...
Got a text that I'll be working on the feed pumps tonight. "They" (whoever they are) want to run both feed pumps tonight. My thoughts are "Why? There is barely enough demand to run a single pump, running two is asking for trouble". I don't think this is part of testing at all. If I were to hazard a guess they just want to swap from one to another, but the conversations I had with the dude via texts are unclear.

I should charge them overtime for spending brainpower on a work project while I'm at home AND SHOULD BE SLEEPING!!

Holy crap dude, that hurts my eyes!

But seriously, I'd wear those on a golf course.

Hell, tell me where I can buy them and I'll wear them to work. I have to work-up the bat-:censored: insane engineering professor angle.

Didn't Chernobyl start this way?

"Hey Yuri, let's screw around with the plant because I am the boss and know stuff!"

"Erm...how about 'no'?"

I just did an image search on "loud pants" using duck duck go. That should get you pointed in the right direction.

As I get older I find I am okay with dressing weirder. I also like the fact that I am pretty good at my job so I can get away with pushing the limits more at work regarding dress and hair and so forth. If the boss doesn't like it, too bad. My experience is hard to replace, at least for what I get paid.

So if I want to wear neon blue pants to work once in a while they just have to deal with it.

You could try this one if you get really bored.

I have a great bright orange Hawaiian shirt that I wear sometimes, especially on Fridays. It's so bright you get a sunburn if you stand too close to me. Other people have uglier Hawaiian shirts, but when I walk into the room nobody pays those guys any attention.

That particular one got quite the attention, remember?

Well, there are a sparse handful of managers who actually do know the equipment. The problem I see here is that the "finish line" is so close and this project is so over schedule and over buget that we've got a lot of corporate oversight by a bunch of bozos. These bozos in question are actually pretty smart, within their own realm of expertise. There are masters of regulatory requirements and procedures. They just don't know how most of the equipment works. Almost anybody can read up, study and memorize how is supposed to work; but there's no replacement for seeing is in action after tearing it down and rebuilding it. The best ones though; they'll hear the problem. Ask for input (starting with the junior guy in the room, there's a reason for that), and make a decision (if I agree with it is irrelevent it's not my neck on the block).

One or two guys have asked us for input and run with it, getting on their phones to either get parts for us or engineering support or whatever we need. I'll do whatever I can for a good manager. They are hard to come by.

I'm right there with you Andy! Most of us old-timers participate in Loud Shirt Friday. Management isn't exactly thrilled about it, but they've got to deal with it. The more time we have to pervert the next generation into playing along.

Looks like the 2B feed pump tripped on low vacuum before I got here. Nobody is asking why because, well, reasons.

Sounds good, on which Caribbean island can I find it?

I figure I'll start out on either St. Barts or St. Maarten. Then gradually expand until my domination of the Caribbean is complete. uhh, I mean until I've, uhh. Nevermind. :shifty:
