Hey everyone,

If anyone here is interested in tabletop RPGs, Zozer Games just released a new game book partly inspired by For All Mankind and the Space Race in general called Orbital Cold War. Looks absolutely fantastic and filled with technical detail. Might be a fun game to run if anyone is interested in getting together for a virtual group tabletop game at some point!

Does it work without the Cepheus rulebook or is having this recommended as well?

I don't mind a virtual RPG, but I would prefer keeping my money together as good as possible until I know which car I drive in the future.

I already got "Warhammer 40K: Wrath and Glory" as pack on humble bundle earlier this year, that should be it with my RPG expenses for a while....

It does come with abbreviated Cepheus rules, so this does work as a standalone!

It should also work with any Traveller derivative like Cepheus Universal or Hostile and I have them all if any extra content is needed.

I have none of those yet, but since I wouldn't do the GM here and the if short rules are enough for players, I can consider it. Lets see if more players get interested.

Sounds good! I'd be happy to GM and provide any handouts needed for anyone unfamiliar with Traveller

Going on Zozer's previous works, I'd expect it to be playable without any supplements, but that it will recommend some stuff. Older works of his, like Orbital 2100 (which is one of the very few mid-future systems that I know that manages to keep halfways realistic while also being playable) didn't, but then the Cepheus SRD is "pay what you want" on drivethru, so you can get it for free to have go with it.
There's also Zozer's own expansion of it, Cepheus Universal, which I managed to get in a sale for like 5 bucks or so, but I see now its regular price is 20...

Traveller
Now that brings me back. Best RPG ever, did end up modding it with Runequest though!
Sadly I don't think I have time. How do you even play? online?
Still sounds like fun. :)

Had a fiscally successful March, so I got the "Orbital Coldwar" book in advance, in case we ever get around getting a well-sized group of players here.

I expect it to be played online maybe even almost completely in the forum. In my younger days, there were even servers for rolling the dice or you use chatbots, but an active GM can also handle it.

But of course, being in the same room, ideally with good food and drink, is much more fun.

?
Also I'm being regularly kicked off/logged out, often directly after making a post (and still showing me logged in!)? Anyone else experiencing this?

:)Brings back memories...

Great! I'm going to work on some prep materials and campaign ideas and see if I can drum up some more interest.

Just for info, the rulebook for Orbital Cold War got updated last week. Also the Cepheus Player Rules got a minor update.
