    Question What are you reading?

Seveneves Hi, I played Orbiter years ago (2007-9 ish?), and have been following this forum sporadically. I just want to bring to your attention Neal Stephensons (Cryptonomicon, Snow Crash) new book SEVENEVES. It is a story about what happens if the moon just suddenly explodes. Im actually...

    Making music at home

Hey orbiteers! First of all, I'm an absolute amateur when it comes to creating music. But I like to try my best at making some music on my computer once a while all the same. There is nothing like it when you get the creative juices going. (and her comes a disclaimer: I'm an amateur! My music...

Yes, "steam ship pier" is one of the locations where footage was aquired as Urwumpe says. But there are now so many reports that it is difficult to give you an answer. Me myself is in the far south, and I don't know anyone up north, and really dont know any more than you. Sorry :-) Heh, I...

Amazing! It reminds me of a galaxy. I would love to have seen that live, but I live way south in the country, unforunately.

Strange object over Norway this morning.

The big picture was taken from "Dampskipskaia" in Trømsø: http://tinyurl.com/yzrt6uj Sorry I don't know the bearing. It was visible from Sør-Trøndelag to the north of Finnmark.

Strange object over Norway this morning.

The article does mention the possibility of it being a Bulava, which according to Reuters has failed on 6 of the last 11 (test)launches.

Strange object over Norway this morning.

I agree. But keep in mind this is a long duration exposure on a tripod. There are also a few movies which may be a bit more convincing: http://go.vg.no/cgi-bin/go.cgi/vp/http://www.vgtv.no/?id=27553 http://www.vgtv.no/?id=27558

C++ Question C++ Newb stuck in a loop

I made it work now using goto, thanks for that tip. :) Sorry, I'll try to explain better: 1 and 2 worked as expected (triggered the correspondig if statements. 3 exited the program. 4 to 9 and 0 made it print "Wrong selection".. All as I intended. But, if I for instance typed in a "g", the...

C++ Question C++ Newb stuck in a loop

Hehe, thats my problem, I don't see why its looping infinitely. Do I really need the update condition? My understanding of the for loop is: (int b = 0; //Initialize b to 0 b == 0;) // keep looping as long as b == 0 Then when I set b to 1 in the loop, it exits. Is this wrong? So a goto line...

C++ Question C++ Newb stuck in a loop

Hi, I've started trying to learn C++, in the hopes of maybe doing something with Orbiter in the future. With the basic stuff I have learned, I decided to try writing a decimal-binary converter, but I'm already stuck at the beginning. :) The following code gets stuck in an infinite loop if i...

OS WARS MEGA THREAD (Now debating proprietary vs. open-source!)

No, those are not entirely correct. Minimum recommended specs call for: 1 GHz 32-bit or 64-bit processor 1 GB of system memory 16 GB of available disk space Support for DirectX 9 graphics with 128 MB memory (to enable the Aero theme) DVD-R/W Drive Internet access (to download the Beta and...

    Back using new platform

Just installed Win7 myself, and must say its a nice improvement over Vista, even if its beta. Hopefully Orbiter will work just as it does in vista, and it should, as win7 is supposed to be backwards compatible with drivers and programs for vista.
