Idea: Realistic Space Travel Board Game

I've actually started playing them more; I've got a friend who has a ton of interesting games. We've played this game called Through the Ages, which is basically Civilization in board game form, and the Order of the Stick Adventure/board game.

News German ships blaze Arctic trail

Looks like the icebreakers are a just-in-case thing, they're not actually being used. Furthur articles on the subject: http://dotearth.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/09/04/commercial-arctic-passage-nearing-goal/...

News German ships blaze Arctic trail

Apparently, the big news is that it's now possible to cross it without assistance from icebreakers.

    Pluto balloon rockets.

True, but you wouldn't have to spend all the energy getting through the dense lower atmosphere.

    Flight Question Almost there........nevermind

The V +/- vectors just show where you're going; pointing towards the +V[ISS] and burning should increase your CVEL. Nonspherical gravity might well be the problem, but if it isn't, you'll just need to be more precise when aligning planes and setting up your rendezvous in Sync MFD. (assuming you...

    Landing on a Runway

Well, if you're on ATM AUTO, it'll sometimes switch to RCS right as you're landing due to your low speed. I almost always switch to elevon & gear by the time I'm on final approach so I don't randomly crash.

    Buying a Laptop

I'm looking to buy a laptop for my own use when I go off to college this fall, and I'm looking for some advice on a few areas. First: I'd like to have Linux on it, (Ubuntu, specifically) but I'm not sure how many programs this will cut me off of. I know Wine exists as a Windows emulator, but...

It's Florida, it's summer, it's hot. We in the Tampa Bay area aren't getting much rain right now, though.

    Question AMSO sound

How can I disable the ATC chatter (I think that's what it is, the talking between Apollo 11 and Houston is what I mean) on custom scenarios involving AMSO?

Internet Looking for an old browser-based educational game

I was just remembering this rather old (7-10 yrs., probably) browser-based game that was supposed to teach the basics of personal finance, and I wanted to look it up again. It wasn't Java or Flash based, it was just a series of web pages. From what I can recall, you were put on a ship to Mars...

A Number of Questions About High-Power/Amateur Rocketry

I should note that this is more of a thought experiment than anything into how high could a cheap, simple rocket be made to go. Major thanks for that Sugarshot link.

A Number of Questions About High-Power/Amateur Rocketry

I have a number of questions, some of which are probably common knowledge or really noobish, but anyways: 1. Are there any amateur rockets (or professional, I suppose) that are attached to a weather balloon (or something like it), sent up some distance, then launched from mid-air? 2. If not...
