Project Apollo 9 Soundpack AMSO

The work on a full Apollo 9 AMSO soundpack is now underway. Flight day 1 is now completed and being tested. (About the first 5 hrs are real-time, and the rest of the soundpack will be overviews.) Been thinking about uploading that part soon, and then being able to focus on working on the undocked rendezvous maneuver phase.

What's available of flight day 2 (up to the go for SPS-3) is done. Starting on the EVA and undocked maneuvers now. I think I'll release all of that, (FD2, EVA, and undocked) next as part 2, then the rest of it last, ending up as three parts.

Finished near complete real-time audio from undocking to docking. (Audio from pre TPI to just before CDR's final docking approach is missing from archive unfortunately as far as I can tell.) Hoping to find it in later WAV files out of order? Not sure what to do with all that audio as far as a soundpack goes, but it sure is fun! :lol:

Two undocking scenarios where the LAN then the LON/epoch were tweaked to more closely match the historic based on the LM DAC footage and Madrid LOS time. Started with the undocking scenario from the Gumdrop and Spider Undocked Audio Soundpack.

Made more progress on this. Finished all SPS burns except SPS 4 & 6 (missing). Completed the docked DPS burn, LM jett, APS burn to deplete, LM activation, and EVA prep. All that's left is the EVA itself and then some minor stuff. The deorbit to recovery is currently unavailable.

The full EVA is now complete. Problem now is how to use it within the AMSO format. Seven separate "SpaceEVA" files to choose from or one with the others as vessel GET's?

The finished soundpack is a 140 MB zip file. While testing the audio, I've been making my own scenarios to be included. Currently I have 75 scenarios completed not including the rendezvous (finished up to CSM/LM separation maneuver). There will probably end up being 100 scenarios in the release. I've tried to make all the mission save points close to the historic using the various mission reports, flight plan, TEC transcripts, and the press kit etc. All scenarios start within a few seconds of some audio playback. I wanted to make it so one can just jump to any point in the mission.

Honestly, 100 seems like too many. It's going to be hard to sort through for people who aren't as familiar with the mission as you.

To me, the fun part is doing the mission yourself. Perhaps just include in the manual a table of critical mission events, maneuvers, etc.?

Hi Boogabooga, and thanks for the feedback. Other points of view are appreciated. I get 100 scenarios sounds a bit nutty, but let me counter and consider that this flight is difficult to get to match up together the audio and at the same time stay close to the historic values starting out from the pad than a lunar mission can be in some ways. Also the scenarios are described well in their titles. I've spent a lot of time getting these scenarios close to the historic like LOS and AOS times matching up to the transcripts, orbit results and burn attitudes, converting to metric, audio playback timed to each scenario start, and detailed descriptions in the notes of each scenario, etc. I get my kicks out of this sim by trying to get the Gemini and Apollo era flights to match up with the historic numbers by reading the reports etc. Anyway to me it doesn't seem like alot when you actually see the scenarios, but maybe it's just me.

I could make a list of useful values to each major maneuver, no problem.
