It would be cool if someone could make something like AMSO but fo the constellatin program. I know of the existing addons but they are not quite as good as AMSO was. What I am saying is I would like to see a realistic CLV,CTV,CEV,EDS,and some sort of lunar lander for landing on the moon like they will in 10 years from now. Yes...it takes an enormous amount of work to produce an add-on of AMSO or NASSP magnitude. To "fake" it, coming up with imagined yet highly detailed designs, systems, procedures and such could well be impossible...or really a huge waste of time, as you'll no doubt be proven wrong in most of your details.

To intelligently simulate it with wonderful detail would take a wealth of data...taken from actual successful designs and missions, so one ought to wait until the missions are underway or just about to occur. After all, real missions have thousands of engineers designing and running them. Who among us could do the whole job all by ourselves? :)

The Orion 606 Addon seems to be the start, looks pretty good.

The better option is to make all the elements of the system seperate and modular, using CVEL or SC3/MS2 or some other well-known system. That way, if one element changes, say the Ares V gets redesigned or the LSAM looks different, you're not locked into a totally wrong system. And you can also design "what-if" elements that don't exist yet, like lunar cargo vehicles, etc.

Addon makers old 'lamentation': so many toys to do / play with, so little time for all :)

Addon makers expected release notice: the toys will be all ready on Tuesday!



Somehow related with a few of the above posts, have some alternative VSE (or whatever is now called) stuff in preparation (to replace the really old NASA VSE SC v1.0 addon). Related with real life's official plans, made also AresI-V (beyond working on DIRECT SDLV).

The 'issue' here is to do some of the pre-release boring stuff (like implement RCS, cleaning files + clean directory structure + do documentation, etc) vs available time.

In any case, focusing again in AresI-V stuff and only to close this brief parenthesis, will just leave a link to a temporary zip full of screenshots from an outdated development session (the interested can click here to download).
