Coronas-Photon will Watch the Sun Continuously for 20 Days
Telescopes of
CORONAS-PHOTON satellite have been switched into a new mode today to begin continuous observation of the Sun which is to last for 20 days. Telescope will make photos of the Sun each 5 min, and are scheduled to be turned off on Oct. 23 at 14:30 Moscow time.
Unique series of continous data will be acquired on the ground. These are to be used by the scientists to study generation of active areas and evolution of blasts in the solar atmosphere within Sun`s complete revolution around its axis. TESIS onboard CORONAS-PHOTON is expected to send about 23000 new images of the Sun.
