Well, I couldn't find the new button on the panel. I actually downloaded it again! I did find a way to cut off the turbo engine sound however, just rename the file to turbine.wav.x! Seriously though, I find the sound to be obnoxious, so I ditched it. I'd also like to second the vote for a wider panel. I use my TV as my display at 1360 x 768.

In all reality, how hard would it be to give this beautifull machine some more engine power so it can reach orbit easier.

I love the look, but hate to use it because it's a pain in the a.. to get into orbit.
Any way of attaching a booster to it and launching it vertically like the shuttle to get it in orbit faster ?

Going slowly into orbit is the holy grail of commercial human spaceflight going slow is FAR less stressful on the craft not to mention its cargo. You cant just make everything able to withstand the extreme forces of vertical launch.

Yes, I recall downloading this a while back, but it's for the earlier version of DGEX.

If the filename of the mesh and the filename of the DLL are the same as in the previous version, that booster will work for sure

DGEx on JupiterIII-X

That JupiterIII-X looks like it could use more surface area. Just a few degrees +/- of aoa could flip it vertically into a spiral.

So I'de just velcro the srb's directly onto the fuselage of this "jet". I hope you approve of this Schimz.

I personally prefer this to the XR5 mostly because there are things on the XR5 that annoy me...
  • APU
  • Radiators! :beathead:
  • No RMS by default.
Glad to find this mod again I had tons of fun with this back in the 2006 days.

Full thrust, no acceleration?

Hi, I added this lovely ship to a shuttle-launch scenario, all worked fine after adding the ship, but when I load the version I saved from the editor and light up the engines... no go. Everything else, but no go.

It happens when running this scenario with the DGex added to a completely fresh Orbiter 2010p1 install. It also happens with a stock DGex installed. It doesn't happen to the shuttle.

Make sure your Windows service packs and .net framework are up to date. its pretty new C++ code

Seems I've discovered Schimz's secret new Land Speeder engine (!), apparently not working yet. Look at the side view.

(That, or I just forgot to put the gear down...)

I've updated the files at OH and my site.

If your already have beta09 with patched dll, you don't need to reload it.

coming back

Hey guys, I've been away from orbiter for awhile, but looking to get back into it.

The DGex was my favorite craft when I played. What is new about this release? I downloaded the file off orbithangar, but the readme didn't seem different.

Thanks in advance!

Thank you very mutch Schimzi, you did a nice job again. DGEX was my favorite spacecraft some years ago. Because this bird gave me all i needed, beautifull looking, very easy flying (i reached moon and mars without TransX or IMFD!), mutch dV and big payload capacity. I explored the solar system with extra tanks and a Rover in payloadbay, it was very funny. Now its my favorite again, after all this XRs and DG-Clones. Its one of the less vessels which registers attachments correct after reloading of the scenario, most other vessels "forget" the mass of attached payloads.

Here a tipp: UniversalCargoDeck4 works fine too, but you must use/attach the XR5_UCD_Carrier as core ship for UCD.
[ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=3312"]Universal Cargo Deck carrier for the XR5[/ame]
Attach this Carrier by Attachment-Manager with the DGEX. If you set DGEX directly as Coreship, then he has strange RCS functions, to fast. This is a problem of most vessels with UCD.

Two questions:1. Are the aerodynamics of DGEX correct? Because its flying dreamfully easy, like a feather. Hes similar in size, mass and shape with Resolve, but Resolve is horrible to stear in comparison.
2. Are there maybe plans to make a right or better virtual cockpit? The actual is more rudimentary, ok most have no vc, but it would make this bird "complet", would be very nice!

Hi,Axel I was wondering if you could put up an attacment example for the DGEX,and the XR5,UCD carrier. I lost my old DGEX PDF, that had the attachment info in there. Thanks:thumbup:

The DGEX has 12 attachment points, all works fine. You can attach it by DGEX itself in space, but i prefer to use attachment manager, its easier.

@Shimz
I got 3 CTD too last time !!!
Most when i fly under time warp. MAybe the reason are other addons, like aerobreak-MFD, but i need this for DGEX, then its Trimming is to weak and i have no nerves to fly it one hour in real time to LEO. MY second helper is AutoHover. When this error occurs again, i have to use XR5 or Resolve as replacement, damn.

Hey,

First off I'm loving this addon. Definitely a contender for my "favourite heavy spaceplane" award!

I've noticed that once above a certain altitude, I lose throttle control of the main engines. I am under the impression they're only semi-air-breathing, since when in orbit the throttles are still lit green, and I can drag them with the mouse to change thrust level, but the joystick throttle seems to stop affecting them above a certain altitude.

I noticed that too! I thougt it was just something wrong with my joystik or orbiter installation. Great that its not^^
