Project G42-200 StarLiner

seems weird, you know....

it doesn't even appear to have loaded the G42 at all there before it crashed - my advice to you is to check your installs...
reinstall the '42 from the zip, ensure that everything got overwritten as it should and that it didn't extract itself inside a subfolder of its own by any chance

if nothing, try it on a "clean" orbiter install...

also, delete any old G42 scenarios you might have... it might be causing problems to use old ones with the new versions

I tried to do the tips you posted it,but there is a CTD anyways,
The crash happens when all files are loaded and it is about to start.
But it works perfectly with the D3D7(DirectX 7 engine).

try loading a stock scenario, then try adding in the G42 after the sim starts (through the scneditor), thatll let us know if its orbitr or the G42

I can't wait for the cockpit to be more active, I sit in the co-pilot chair starting, and I can click on the pilot's controls.

my problem is... I cannot seem to thrust within the cockpit, am I missing a control somewhere? I'm trying to get it to fly.

Also gonna give to making a skin for it :D

and as for the "how to fly" on the past versions, that thing is so badly outdated i figure it does more harm than good...
Actually that text file allowed me to fly your ship, old or not. Of course you'll do the manual eventually, but a simple text file with those few lines can help who has no idea on how to start. As you can see, _Designer_ doesn't seem to be able to fly her.

Anyway, the VC looks really cool. Great ship.

remember to put it in (code) (/code) next time;)

and thats a graphics problem:
Code:
---------------------------------------------------------------
>>> ERROR: Destroy framework objects failed
>>> [OrbiterGraphics::Exit3DEnvironment | .\OGraphics.cpp | 1034]
---------------------------------------------------------------
not sure if thats Orbiter or the G42...

This thread kind of helped for that...

Looking good Moach!

Any ideas at this point as to what kind of dyn pressure the canards would take?

The canards are great at providing more attitude control.

well, i recomend you close those things before trying to break mach 1...

i believe they could conceivably stand the pressure of up to mach 2 - but it's quite likely that the extend/retract mechanism could not operate safely at those speeds, so in they go :hmm:

btw - theres a long-standing bug with the canards where they may appear extended when scenario loads, but they really don't work until you flip the switch back and forth at least once.... (doesn't need to close all the way, even a quick double tap of the "N" key already does it)

Could you post your system specs? And does the D3D9 Client work with any other scenario/vessel?

Yeah it works perfectly, just a issue with some mods(including the G42-200).

System Specs:Windows Vista Home Premium(32-bit)
Intel Core 2 Duo T7250 @2.00 Ghz
2 GB Memory
Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT
DirectX:Software Level is Directx 11
Hardware Level is Directx 9.
If you need more then pm me,i have a entire log.

have you tried it on a clean install? - also, have you checked you got the RC34 graphics client?

just probing around... kinda tough to isolate the problem when theres so much that could get in the way

Looking excellent and works flawlessly! All we need now is a fedex skin for it :)

BTW I have never noticed any missing sounds, but I found this in orbiter log:

oh - good find!

those are the switch clicking and flicking effects.. i seem to have forgotten to include them in the zip

i'll see to that right away (i mean, as soon as i get home where those files are)

ok, just for everyone to know, i've got my paws on an education license for 3dsMax 2012

so i'm taking some time to get it all reconfigured just right, but it shouldn't be long anyways... :hmm:

can't wait to try those new UV tools

Don't waste your time with useless graphics programs, and go writing that documentation...

;)

yeah well, looks like we're in a for a little delay now - last night my mouse went kaput.... the left button ceased to respond properly to pressing and releasing.....

then i noticed it made a rather odd rattling sound when i shook it (even tho i held down all the external parts which could be a source for such sound)

at that point, i remembered that it was indeed more than a few years old.... then that incident where it was dropped and split into a larger number of pieces than it was before came to mind :hmm: - i wonder if that's related to the "rattle" sound in some way

anyways.... so i went on and bought me a Logitech G700 :woohoo: - the 13 programmable buttons will go a long way when modeling and stuff... it should arrive in a couple of days... can't wait :P
