Greetings,

I've recently downloaded Orbiter 2010 along with HighRES textures and LandSAT, I've installed both of them right(according to what installation guide says), but when I open up 'Camera' menu while I'm in Orbiter, the simulator closes immediately(probably a crash, but I can't find any crash log(if there are any)), this, so called 'crash' also occurs when I exit the scenario, therefore, I must open Orbiter again and start the new scenario...
I've tried using a fresh Orbiter copy without any textures, and it doesn't crash, now, according to this, textures I downloaded are causing this, but I dunno why would they cause my Orbiter to crash since I do not have any FPS drop in-game, and I am pretty sure I have strong enough graphics card to support these textures, so any ideas what could cause these 'crashes'?

And, I also wanted to install OrbiterSound 4.0, but when I run the installer it does nothing, it just freezes(dunno what's the thing with this).
Have a nice day. :-)

Are you using the in-line graphics or an external graphics client? ("vanilla" Orbiter or Orbiter_ng?) a look at the orbiter.log file might give some clues as to exactly what is causing your crash.

As far as Orbiter sound freezing up, that's a new one on me. I've never had any troubles with Dan's installer (for any of his stuff, the DGIV, UCGO, etc). Does it do the same thing for the DG-IV?

I'm using "vanilla" Orbiter, not the _ng one, as for the sound, I've figured out the problem(this one's solved).

And here's the Orbiter.log info, I didn't notice anything strange though...(sorry if the text is long, I dunno how to upload the file itself) :(

Solved!

It turns out Venus Hi-Res textures were making the problem, got them removed and everything's fine, dunno why's it doing it though...

Orbiter lags for a few seconds when switching to external camera mode

Hi, I'm pretty new to orbiter. Just completing my first moon mission yet. It's really addictive, but I have one problem. Whenever I change the camera view by pressing F1, the game/simulator lags for about 5-10 seconds. This happens virtually everytime I change the camera view. Funny thing is, it only lags when I'm changing into the external camera mode, but when I change back to the internal camera, it switches in a jiffy and doesn't lag at all. Any suggestions? It never lags/slows down any other time and I don't have any add ons installed (except the sound pack, I think)

Hi, I'm pretty new to orbiter.
Hi! And welcome.

What kind of ship are you flying? The DeltaGlider?
I am asking because the difference between internal and external view is: The number of 'things' to render.
If you have a high polygon-count ship, this might be the cause.
On the other hand the difference should not be THAT MUCH.
Have you tried disabeling 'Local Light sources' (in the 'Visual effects' part of the Launchpad window)? As far as I know these are only rendered in external view, so that might help (although it's just a guess).

Any suggestions?
Other than the ones above...no ;)

It never lags/slows down any other time and I don't have any add ons installed (except the sound pack, I think)

Oh! You can try to play around with some of the 'Visualization Parameters' under the 'Extra' Part. Maybe a 'Pre-load' of textures at session start does change this.
