I seem to recall a line of special edition GI Joe figures a few years back, and I think one of them was an astronaut, perhaps Glenn. There was a Sgt. York GI Joe, and a George Washington GI Joe as well. Cool stuff.

Here it is! A Buzz Aldrin GI Joe! Kickass.

129 bucks it's all yours. Little rich for my blood, but still tempting.

I was very lucky to order one of these figures before the seller jack his price (over double what I paid).
A couple of months ago on ebay there was a run on these figures from Dragon, some sold well over $150.00. The level of detail is amazing down to the hose connections on the suit.
This summer in the town I live in Montana, Mr. Aldrin will be the guest of honor at an outdoor symphony. I have volunteered to help out behind the scenes, one of the perks will be a meet & greet with Buzz and I hope to take the the figure (still in the box) and have him sign it.

If you're on the lookout for a cheaper Apollo figure, try one of these:

I got one for my little boy. They're pretty good for the price, although they are not modeled after real astronauts, and the color schemes are off. (This LM Pilot "Jack" has red rather than blue trim on his suit.)

MT

Description: The Lunar Module Pilot controlled the Lunar module as it landed on the moon.
D'oh!

Either way, I am not actually looking for Apollo figurines. What I said in the first post was supposed to be in a jokingly manner. I guess it does not really work over the Internet.

I have one of those Mercury Joe astronauts! Check out http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f5/darkjohnson/video/?action=view&current=MercuryJoeStory.flv. This is an AWESOME video!
Both links about the same project mentioned by Quick_Nick. It was indeed a great project! Not scale but still great fun with the 'free fall phase' complications and all the cameras etc.
Though it would have been even more fun, if they would have 'tethered' something in the capsule, like they sometimes do in real world in the Soyuz capsules. It may have given a better impression of the free fall phase.

Ha.. confess that you probably played with it too ;)
