On my PC (Vista) it works, Could it have something to do with the development tools that you have used (eg package sdk)?

It could have but there seems to be no dependencies other than Orbiter.exe, kernel32.dll, user32.dll and gdi32.dll

That's very strange in-deed. The file that is required by IMFD5.1k is msvcr80.dll and the file version should be 8.0.50727.762 it's located somewhere in a WINDOWS folder. Should be easy to spot with search tool. Does this file exist in both computers.

The version number of the old file is 8.0.50727.42

PC where does not work imfd 5.1k:

-Windows XP SP3
-Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable - x86 9.0.21022
-Orbiter 2006-P1
-IMFD 5.1k

Glad to help

Glad to help.

Man Im a regular watch dog arent I? lol. Jarmo puts out a new version of IMFD and because all my tutorials depend on it working, I mention a problem, and before you know it in less than 4 days the problem is solved for all of us.

Thanks Jarmo and ALL who posted here developers posters, and testers alike.
Kicking ass and taking names is what I call that!!

I have one question about IMFD, which might be a bug:

Normally to eject from the moon back to earth I would use base approach, but I decided to try planet approach so I could try to set up to swing back the moon again. However, I found that though planet approach displayed the orbit I wanted, using orbit eject set on course sent me way way off course, out into space.

Kind of a different thread.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...D9-AE1A-4A14-984D-389C36F85647&displaylang=en

I have one question about IMFD, which might be a bug:

I hate to be the one to do this, but ...
in order for these forums to be a good souce of information for the public at large, we have to do something in forums that is called thread addressing.
What this means, is in order to make the threads that are posted more valuable to people we try to keep the threads (or forums topics), and their verious replies and re-replies -all working toward or "in the subject of" the original post.

That way people who may be searching the topics and thier headings, can easily find the information they need. This topic is about an issue that IMFD 5.1j and k were causing an issue with (in particularly my machine) the existing libraries in Jarmo's recommended MS VC++ 2005 Redistributable Package as it stood alone listed on his webpage.

I posted the original thread so the developer can see the topic name and find it very easily in these forums.

To keep your ideas and our ideas organized you may consider posting your issue under a new thread called maybe "Strange Flight Path for Base Approach in IMFD 5.1m" or somthing and then we can all help you with that issue which to me seems to be different than this threads "main topic" Here you should try to keep your questions and ideas "On the issue" or "on discussion topic" which is usually the subject of your topic post.

I would be happy to address your question under a different thread.
Here, I will say that your Base Approach is a flight programming issue you are having which may come under the Pilot error area from what it sounds like.

In my tutorial "From the Earth to The Moon" an AMSO 1.17 Apollo 11 Full Mission Tutorial Using IMFD, you will find in the section on programming your TEI (Trans Earth Insertion) in IMFD 5.1h, (which is very similar to recently released 5.1m)

....it will tell you that there may be some map program "wierd looking" flight paths at first until you enter the earth's SOI or sphere of influence.
There are ways to "tweek" IMFD map program to make the view look more like what you would think a return flight would look like. Hit me up with the same question under my thread above on my tutorial if you think your issue may be this and not a "bug" in the MFD itself and Ill see if I can further help you but to me this looks like a normal thing. I could be wrong. I think your supposed to use Base Approach like the AMSO and Interplanetary existing "real" tutorials recommend.

I dont see this issue as a bug at this time. But I would need more information -in a different thread.

Thanks for your help in "thread addressing" better in the future.

Well this is the third time I have asked, and you aren't allowed to bump threads according to the rules, so I am not sure what else I can do. And I understand IMFD pretty well, and this behavior is counter to my understanding of the program. So you are saying it is better to start a new thread then to post in an existing one? That is counter to all the advice I have ever gotten before, but, as you wish.

Ok

Um. Well Im not an admin or a monitor so I guess I was just offering my view that your issue is not a version issue to my knowledge. I could be wrong. I would be willing to help you use the IMFD correctly because to my knowledge Orbit Eject should not be set to use Course to do a lower orbit manuver. The earth is like a lower orbit return-type flight which is what I deducted you were doing.

My fault if Im wrong. Just wanted to also say that I was told to keep issues apart when it came to help issues.

Sorry if there was any miscommunication there. :)
Keep posting anywhere you want to, well figure out how to help you.

5.1k works just fine on my system, as did 5.1j, with Orbiter 2006 P1. In the hopes of figuring out what some systems might be missing, these are the relevant (I think) things installed on my system.

Windows XP SP2
.NET 2.0 framework
MS Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package
MS Visual C++ Express Edition 2008 (with the included SDK)

Jarmo 1, Houston. You are GO! for Orbit using Interplanetary 5.1m.

Jarmo 1, Houston. You are GO! for Orbit Launching Interplanetary 5.1m!!!!

Works for my cheap piece of crap it should work for others.

I am using IMFD 5.1m ("Download 5.1m")from your site with
ONLY the affor recommended MS VC++ 2005 Redistributable Package
...and without the Service Pack 1 as listed above
Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)

I dont even think I have the .NET 2.0 framework
but thats not to say that people shouldnt get it. Its a good thing to have with some addons for Orbiter. Just saying I didnt need it for IMFD 5.1m.

CHEERS!! See you guys at Tarus Lithrow.

I have one question about IMFD, which might be a bug:

Could you attach a scenario where IMFD is configured and ready for burn. It would be easier to spot the problem.

The problem was caused by missing msvcr80.dll version 8.0.50727.762 I am trying to find a way to make the IMFD to accept older versions of the same library.

The current version 5.1m is using static linkin meaning that required parts of msvcr80.dll are included within the InterMFD51.dll making the size of the DLLs to grow. But that's not a problem.

No redistributable packages required for now.
