What multistage2015 for beta? I would like to try this "live configuration setting" of rocket in BETA. I see that in screenshots those icons in upper part of Orbiter screen look like in Orbiter BETA...

It's in development, actually I'm using the BETA version to build up the new developer mode. It will be ready soon.

In the meantime you can download an "almost" working version here if you wish to start having ms15 on the beta:

Payloads disappear

I've been staring at this for hours and having no luck fixing the problem I'm seeing. This is one of the scenarios (SH_SLS - TEST Scenario) provided with the add-on.

The payloads disappear when jettisoned. Orbiter still lists both as an active ship. I've been using a clean Orbiter install, and have de-installed and re-installed all relevent add-ons and patches twice now with no success.

I've seen a similar problem with spacecraft3 type vehicles - but can't remember the fix. I think the scenario variables, RPOS and RVEL, changing to non-sensible values AFTER the jettison is a clue.

I think it is related to spacecraft3 for some reasons. I had the same issue some time ago, but not related to ms2015, only to sc3.

I have no idea of why, I tried to pass to genericvessel and that solved the issue for me.

Yep, but still, to my understanding and knowledge it is some issue with sc3 (something i don't know actually)

Oh. Sorry, somehow I was under the impression you're using the beta version.

With the current release I don't see jettison problems with SC3.

That happened to me without reason sometimes, it's strictly related to sc3 and something i'm not capable to guess. IIRC it happened only with the inline client and not with d3d9. When I installed GenericVessel this disappeared. I have no idea of what caused it.

I think I found the issue.

Your add-on is missing .ini files for both deadweight and adaptor.

sc3, IIRC, needs these.

I want to lob something into a sub-orbital trajectory. I am using this orbit call:

-30=orbit(-1400, 800, 29, 1, 85, 200)

Any insight into why this does not work? I get a cutoff at 200km all right, but the final orbit is more like -1000 x 400.

I would spend some time to try to tweak the launch, but I am wondering if negative periapsis is supported at all?

It is definitely supported but if the cutoff altitude is not one of the periapsis the precision of the final orbit is not as good as usual. I think there is a note on this in the docs. Point is that to have the correct orbit, autopilot has to match both altitude and vertical speed at cutoff, but while at periapsis vertical speed is zero and is easy to match and maintain, at the other altitudes it has to match a precise value that is there for just an instant and even a minimal difference produce a remarkable difference in the final periapsis, so it s very difficult for it to get it precise.
I think that is the issue that you are experiencing

You say in the doc "slightly less precise on the final absides"

My apogee was a full 400 km off.

At cutoff the vertical velocity needs to be out 1000 m/s. Actual vertical velocity at cutoff is more like 500 m/s.

Do you consider 50% error "slight"? (Actual question, no sarcasm)

No, but i never considered such a difference between apoapsis, periapsis and cutoff altitude (-1400,800 and 200 km). The idea of the cutoff altitude was the space shuttle launch, something like 40 km in peri, 180 in apo and 80 of cutoff altitude, so when i made the tests with those values the difference was not this remarkable.

I'm using Donamy's H2B HTV mod. Launch sequence sound does not play and SRB is not jettisoned properly with Multistage2015.dll(renamed as Multistage2.dll). Everything works fine when I use Vinka's Multistage2.dll.

did you try to hit CTRL+R and enter the rocket name to see if then it works correctly?

I believe this problem is not specific to my environment as it was originally reported by other Japanese orbinaut.

Relevant to sound it's because in the 2016 version it's not implemented due to the lack of orbitersound 2016, and when I transposed it to 2010 I didn't re-add it, I'll update the 2010 version again with the old orbiter sound.

The issue with the Booster jettison is this:

for some reason the original Vinka multistage2 did not work as advertised for the rot_speed parameter, let me explain.
From Vinka Docs:

ROT_SPEED : rotation speed of 1 st booster jettison (in rad/s), for other boosters, the rotation speed vector is also rotated

now, the ini file of the H2B for the rot_speed is

ROT_SPEED=250

which for some reason was ignored in Vinka, while it's correctly taken into account in Ms2015.

so you see the boosters rotating at 250 rad/s around X axis, 0 around Y and 0 around Z...
To make it work just delete the ROT_SPEED=250 entry from the ini file, and everything will work fine.

Some fine tuning of the ini files might be possibile due to the unpredictable mistakes that can happen, like this. Hope it is clear enough!
