No idea, she trained with Alexander Gerst the past months, but no reason was given why she was replaced.

Dr Epps was to have been the first African-American astronaut assigned to the space station crew.
Huh, i thought there were a few before her?

Nasa has not given a reason for withdrawing her but says she will be considered for future missions.
That sounds to me like it was some personal matter, rather than some problem.
Guess we will find out in a few days.

Since 1980 there have been 16 African-American NASA astronauts of which 14 have flown Shuttle missions. None have been part of the ISS resident crew.

For some reason, when I first saw this sentence, my brain saw Alexander Ger*t -> Alexander Gre*t -> Alexander Great -> Alexander the Great.

I couldn't for the life of me think why a modern astronaut would be training with a long-dead general.
