Can someone tell me the planetary scenery levels included in the 2010 download package? I read that it come with Earth level 11 which I upgraded to level 14 but what about the rest of the bodies in the solar system?

In fact, the upgrade is a global level 11 texture, with level 14 equivalent surface tiles around KSC. :)

As for the rest, I think they're stock level 10, but I may be wrong. I know that the mirrors have level 11 textures for bodies like Mars and Luna.

The basic Orbiter 100606 installation package contains only max. level 8 textures. Any higher level of planet textures needs to be downloaded separately.
(BTW. Level 14 for Earth is whole Florida, and not only area around KSC.)

Level 8:|Level 7:|Level 6:|Level 5:

  • Earth

  • Saturn
  • Tethys
  • Titan

  • Uranus
  • Venus clouds

You'll see, one day we'll have global Earth level 16 :)

The Moon & Mars textures lvl 11 are awesome. Now you can see even "little" craters.

Agreed, the textures for Mars, The Earth and the Moon are gorgeous pieces of work.

Just to point out, In 2010 the default Mars MaxPatchResolution = 10 Needs changing to 11. You will see a slight difference close up.

I was going to ask a question here but I finally decided to see for myself.

If I inserted, by example, a MaxPatchResolution = 15 ( or 16 or 22...) in a configuration like that of Earth or Venus or..., does Orbiter would do me in trouble at launch?

Apparently not.

In fact, and rather than changing them one by one, gradually as one add more detailed textures for a particular celestial object, and when they become available, episodically, on Orbithangar ...

Unless one want, in a particular circumstance, reducing the resolution of a planet, in particular, in spite of the texture associated with it ...

( I forget, neglect or do not discern, maybe, some other elements to consider, but at first sight ...)

I always wanted to ask that myself, but never got around to it. Why put anything other than the actual maximum of patch level to any planet? If the texture used is lower res than that, it's still loaded, but it's a pain to alter them every time I want to update a texture.

So thanks Kendo. Even though after a screenshot text, there seem to be no difference, it's still better to ahve it on 14 by default.

EDIT: I take it back. Zooming all the way in, and setting a 10° FOV, Olympus Mons really look noticably worse on the default lvl10 setting.

Here's a comparison from the OM crater (textures are fully loaded).
