Hmm... Seems its really broken... We're stucked here for a moment...

(I suffered a "bouncing bug" during taxiing, that destroyed the gear and let me no other option that to hover. Also, I retracted the antenna a bit too late, so that poor DG-IV isn't going to make a reentry soon. Gravitesque).

Getting spoiled with all these great upgrades. Thank you!

Is the nosecone/docking port still intact at least, making rescue possible? Hopefully you brought enough oxygen for a bit of a stay in orbit while they get things ready on the ground...

Every time I see your avatar it reminds me this video (it's in Russian, but what they're saying there is irrelevant):

I love how the cartoon rocket is essentially R-7/Soyuz, complete with strap-ons. The culture has an idea of what a "spaceship" is supposed to look like, even for children. As does ours.

A near total systems failure on Horizon Station forced the launch of a rescue mission to save the crew on board. OCTS VIII lifts off from a launch facility near the Upsilon Andromedae Equator:

Horizon Station is jettisoned from the Intrepid, left to burn up in the atmosphere:

The Intrepid-Horizon superstructure had a bit of angular momentum when the RCS fuel ran out on the Intrepid. This was helpful in getting rid of the station at undocking, but not so much when docking the rescue shuttle to a slightly spinning Intrepid:

A welcome sight for the beleaguered crew:

The Intrepid was then boosted up to a higher 600x600 km orbit for storage. All attempts at reviving the frozen reactor proved unsuccessful, meaning that any future salvage operation will need to bring their own heater in order to get the spacecraft operational again. After a few orbits, the XR-2309 will prepare for deorbit to a landing site still to be determined.

Thinking inside bedroom :p.

What would be advantage of that kind of attachment? Symetric wing profile of that set up is rather disadvantage here - assuming you want to launch them that way and utilize lift. Vertical ascent?

Yes vertical. One is just a reusable tank.

Actually, it could work out - if the other vehicle would be much bigger so you get a good proper stage ratio. Also, the lift is not that important, since the wings are also too close to produce more than drag.

There is a similar british design for a winged launcher, BTW. Not sure if I can find it again.

That thing with the four blue solar panels... I remember that being from some ESA lunar base add-on, but since Orbiter Francophone doesn't exist anymore, I don't know where I can find that.
