I saw this company (Planet.com) at the Google Cloud Conference this week. Their goal is to image the world daily and make it available for research and for commercial use. Their Plant Explorer Beta is now available free of charge.

Check it out, Orbitnauts!

Unfortunately, only land images are available. If the company includes sea images, it would be useful for marine biology research and for NGOs to hunt for illegal and destructive fishing practices.

It makes me wonder though, the website's name is planet.com and a planet like Earth includes ocean and seas, how can they miss it?

Edit: Here are 2 videos for all of you to understand more about planet.com:

It's just a beta at the moment. Tasters of things to come.

Isn't this what Google Earth was supposed to be?
