i believe he's accounting for the blue-ish hue that contrails (or pretty much everything else) would gain as they become fogged out when viewed from a large distance in atmosphere....
i wouldn't mind seeing that done either :thumbup:
tho i don't see how that would compensate for becoming white again when the camera goes near an already-blue section of contrail :shifty:
could be done as a shader, i guess... if only that didn't require writing up another new external renderer :facepalm:
I think that a realistic reentry contrail should have lots of fire, like what you can see on videos of Soyuz reentries. There are some contrails in orbiter that have almost none.

No, blue contrail should be on front of reentering heavy spaceship, when reenters very quickly at very steep angle, for example descends to Earth with speed >>20 km/s at angle 70 degrees
