Try getting msvcr80.dll and msvcp80.dll and putting them in the same folder as the beta orbiter.exe .

Also, I'm assuming that you have no addons in the beta folder and that you installed the beta into a new folder (didn't just overwrite an existing 2006 P1 install)?

Does it not even start to the launchpad?

it didn't work

no the beta is allways clear from addons because those addons that i like , crash - at least in the 081111 version that i tried

no unfortunately i can't get to the launchpad
but thats the purpose of releasing the beta after all , to test if it works , right ? well now sadly it doesnt on my pc
anyway i'll just wait for the next beta and if it won't work that too i'll wait for the next one , and the next one , and the next one ....

BTW As a programmer i don't think that orbiter is a difficult program to write.
Only the atmospheric model could be a drag, but one could use an engine like Flightgear's - as a matter of fact a flight engine is ready for takeoff ..

Now the question is, what did VC++ 2005 install that made it work?

And it's not only VC++ 2005 that works, I've also used it successfully with VS 2008 installed on the computer.
