Robotic prison wardens to patrol South Korean prison

Do they shoot whole bullets for penetrating power? (Portal 2 reference :P)

Yep... and if they escape that, they have to lug around a companion cube for fifty levels

It said the robots move on four wheels and are equipped with cameras and other sensors that allow them to detect risky behaviour such as violence and suicide.

So what, will the robot know how a violence or a suicide looks like? Sounds like an utter nonsense to me.

Looks like a scheme to get the guards off patrolling and into a room full of CCTV and robot cameras. Saves on the wage bill, one guard can monitor lots of locations, and they don't need training in people skills or rehabilitation. The robot might though...

N.

I couldn't agree more, as appealing as the idea of replacing humans with robots in the incredibly risky job of guarding a prison, we are no where near having the technology to make a capable AI to control such a machine.

Oh yes, let's give the authority of lethal force to a machine.

Because we all know machines can't possibly make mistakes, right?

i only hope those "guard robots" aren't the kind that moves in a predictivelly repetitive pattern and only shoot if you're in a grid square that's in front of it...

because i really can't help but to have this kinda picture come to mind:
n-21.jpg

*prisoner hacks robots*
*robots switch sides*
*prisoners break out*

I'm not saying it would actually happen; but it might.

If I were a warden I would be ashamed to have this WALL-E lookalike patrolling the compound.

the important part not whether it makes a mistake or not, its that since a machine did it, no one is at fault for "unforseen glitches"

HAHAHAHAH if it was armed I think it would give me nightmares, like a happy clown with a knife.

they should have made it lool menacing with 360 degree vision, possible shaped more like an imperial scout drone (or whatever they're called...the black hovering things with several folding arms)

unless it is purposefully made to infuriate and mock the prisoners maybe thats the design...
