Here's a picture of my butt:-

That's not its normal working orientation. The reason is, it has developed a leak.

This is the cultprit:-

I'm sure the combined diy might of the forum can give some suggestions as to the best way to repair it?

My butt will not be on the line till I get it fixed.

Anyway, here's a picture of a daffodil.

Many thanks, N.

Use duck tape. On the inside AND outside.

Some fibreglass and resin fixing should do nicely assuming that you clean the crack first so that the resin sticks. I assume that it's not for drinking water. Araldite would be too brittle for winter. Silicone sealant would probably also work.

Make sure that you apply the fix to the inside of your butt so that the pressure of a full butt of water will push the seal shut rather than try to open it.

My experience with good duck tape (we call it "Panzer-tape"/tank tape here) is, that it usually outlasts the thing it repairs.

my father once covered the wings of a model plane with heavy duck tape, it was still capable of flying (though worse than before), but other than the lighter paper coating, the new wings had been indestructible...

Duck tape my have problems in the summer with heating.
I suggest using epoxy resin, very much like agentgonzo suggested.

Nice Daffodil!

I was thinking like .. WTF! this guy has posted pics of his butt.. saying it has a leak :rofl:

Then agentgonzo said:

Just trying to work out the load on my butt repair.

Using the Frustum Of A cone formula:-

V=pi*h/3(R^2*R.r*r^2), where h=89cm, R=32cm and r=22cm.

V=93(1024+704+484)

Gives volume approximately 200L.

Taking the base area as pi*22^2, = 152cm^2

If I find the mass of 200L of water, and divide it by the base are, will this give me the pressure?

Hydrostatic pressure is weight force (m * g) divided by area.

Or simpler: g * density * height.

9.81 m/s² * 1000 kg/m³ * 0.89 m = 8.73 KPa more than surface pressure.

Thanks Urwumpe, about 1.26 psi in Imperial units that I can remember!

Strange, I would have guessed it would have been greater.

BTW, it's actually called "duct tape" (it is normally used to seal air duct joints), although here in the U.S. there is a brand of duct tape named "duck tape" with a yellow duck on the label. :lol:

Yes, its a total cock-up at the moment, it will get worse when I have to start cleaning the inside before the repair. I will have to stick my head up my own butt.

You might also try a small piece of rubber tubing a piece of steel and a strong magnet.

Ducts that leak 15 percent or more must be repaired.

How can I check my butt repair is less than 15%.?

Maybe the Araldite/fibreglass/resin would be the best. Probably have to wear breathing equipment inside my butt.

Don't forget proper lightening. The sun does not shine in your butt.
