No idea, but I know my speed!
Hello,
It has been decided that later this year the family will be going to Norway. Does anyone know of any space/science things to do such as a space centre or a science museum? We will be around Oslo so anything around there would be good.

Thanks,
Will

Well, Norway is pretty far north, so if you're staying there during the winter, the nights will be long. Long nights are excellent for watching the sky. If you can get a hold of binoculars or a telescope, take the opportunity and look up :)

I'll be at the Sognefjord this summer, but I know that there's an aviation museum near Gardermoen airport. And there's Gardnos crater about 120 km north-west of Oslo.

As RisingFury said, it's propably a great place for skywatching in winter.

Well, there is a technical museum in Oslo (Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology). I have never been there, but I think that it also is some astro- and aviation-related "stuff" there. Wikipedia says that it is a museum for industry, science, technology and medicine.

Also, as "astrosammy" says, there is a military aviation museum in Gardermoen, Norwegian Armed Forces Aircraft Collection (I didn't know that!), where some aircrafts are on display. If you are travelling by airplain, you are probably landing on Gardermoen or Torp (but be adviced, Torp is called Oslo Torp, but is actually 2 hours from Oslo...).

Sadly, Norway isn't such an air-and-space-interested country, but still, I think that there is plenty to do on the technical museum and aviation museum in Gardermoen. But for how long are you going to stay here?

Well, trying to see the aurora would be on the top of my list!

Well, yeah, but Oslo is a bit far south. I think you should be at least be 500-1000 km's more north to see it, and then it absolutly need to be winter, because in the summer it is midnight sun. I have lived in South-Norway in 16 1/2 years, and I have never seen the aurora borealis :(
