We can build space stations.

We can do personnel transfers and resupply missions with DanSteph's UMMU/UCGO version of the ISS. [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=4457"]UCGO & UMMU compatible ISS[/ame]

But we can't do both. We can come close with StationUCGO [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=4585"]Generic Station UMMU/UCGO Support[/ame] (which doesn't allow for actually "consuming" resources, and limits crew ingress/egress to one docking port).

Is there some way that could be implemented?

I realize this would be difficult to implement on a multi-module station, but here's a thought: starting with DanSteph's version, take the solar panels, trusses, and maybe some of the side modules off to leave a core that can be launched from Earth, which has all the UMMU/UCGO capabilities of the original. Change the coding and config to reduce the number and placement of docking ports to three or four (one for visiting vessels, one for EVA's while said vessel is docked, and one or two for attaching more modules).

patients its a virtue, IMS comes somewhere close to this, check it out at http://www.orbiter-forum.com/showthread.php?t=26003
Its still in development but currently we can build a ship / station, take supplies to it, add a crew and the consumables get consumed :)

And theres a tonne of other fantastic stuff thats jedidia's working like a mad man to include

UMMUFA helps.

It allows you to stick UMMUs into any vessel with a docking port.

So it allows you to send crews up to a station. I have nothing for you for consuming resources like Dansteph's ISS.

I'm not so sure about UMMUFA, I've found it a bit buggy in the past.
