Why do you use Orbiter?

Orbiter is one of those great things that lets you visualize the math that is around us. Open an orbital mechanics or aerodynamics or even a physics or geometry text and you are bombarded with equations. Jump into Orbiter and tinker around a bit, and suddenly those equations take on real meaning.

Some people take a shine to math and equations straight away. Others need to start with the physics first and work their way to the equations before they make sense. Once they see how it works with their eyes they can connect with what the equations are actually telling them.

I think Orbiter has pushed many of us, particularly the younger ones, to dig deeper into the books and ideas just because it put the hard challenge of rocket science in the hands of amateurs. It gives us a game-like incentive to learn challenging ideas. That is a win in my book.
